Yuzuya Ryokan - Adult Only

A quiet oasis tuck in part of Kyoto that is bustling and close to all the major activities.

Wish the onsens were bigger. If more than one person was using the onsen, it would feel quite cramped.

Food and location and vibe

My stay at Yuzuya Ryokan was one of the highlights of my Kyoto trip. The location next to Yasaka Shrine is wonderful, but what I loved most was the atmosphere of the ryokan itself. From the peaceful garden and traditional architecture to the warm hospitality and beautifully prepared kaiseki dinner, everything felt thoughtful and authentic. There is a Japanese phrase, igokochi ga ii (居心地がいい), which means a place where you feel completely comfortable and at ease. That perfectly describes how I felt here. I found myself wanting to slow down, sit by the window with a cup of tea, and simply enjoy the quiet surroundings. Thank you for creating such a special place. I hope to return to Kyoto and stay here again.

My only suggestion would be to provide complimentary earplugs for guests. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Gion, but because of that, there was some noise from motorcycles and cars passing by at night. As this is a beautiful traditional wooden building, sound insulation is naturally more limited than in modern hotels, and I was woken up a couple of times during the night.

I loved every moment at Yuzuya Ryokan, from the customer service to the decor, the comfort and traditional breakfast. I learned so much about Japanese culture through my stay

Beautiful property, very central location. Staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous especially the manager. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable.

I wish we had some choice on our breakfast. As they only offer Japanese.
