Rassom Hostel

Excellent location, located just opposite to the Registan Square (Though it may be a bit difficult to find: the hotel is located on the second floor of the building and you need to walk up the stairs to arrive at the entrance). The facilities and room are clean.

There is sometimes some unpleasant smells in the bathroom. There is only one sink in the whole bathroom which creates some inconvenience.

The only good thing about this property is the location. But this does not make up for everything else - do not stay there.

Most of the facilities listed in the booking did not exist. Most importantly the toilets and washing facilities were not good enough. There was only one hand basin for washing and this was in full view of the hostel and covered by CCTV so no Privacy. Also there were only 2 toilets which also included the only 2 showers. So if 2 people were having a shower nobody could use a toilet. Not adequate for a hostel with over 15 people. The beds were uncomfortable and room had virtually no facilities and no windows. Other facilities listed but not present included: - Air con - Shared kitchen - Sun terrace - Garden - Cashless payments - Wardrobe or closet - City view - Drying rack for clothes - Clothes rack - Microwave - fridge - Tea/coffee maker

You can’t beat the location, right across the street from the famous Registan Square, and quite close to all the other attractions as well. They also checked us in earlier which was a relief.

The shared bathrooms were not regularly cleaned. Our room had no air conditioning except for a fan.

You cannot ask for a better location than this. Just go downstairs and look to the right and you'll see the Registan Square. The hostel is actually in a madrasa. There are a number of restaurants and minimarkets nearby. Staff are very helpful. In fact, if not for the staff’s reminder, i might just have missed the train. Wifi works well.

The position was great. The hostel is located 200m from Registan.

Considering that it is a hostel in front of the Registan, we expected a much better service. In the description of services were included breakfast and they told us that they never had this service. The heating system was an old heating carpet and a small electric heater. (We did not consider safe to sleep with this system on during the night). The windows of the rooms were locked, we could not open them. The bathrooms were shared and not so much clean.

Siroj was an amazing guy, he helped us a lot and could speak amazing English. He was very welcoming and made sure that we were comfortable. For people who are looking for a hostel in Samarkand, I highly recommend this hostel!

The Hostel closed business for winter break and didn’t remove its listing from Booking.com. Tourists like myself had been left outside in a freezing cold weather to face locked doors.

Nothing as I have not managed to even enter as they were “on winter break” without unlisting themselves or making sure that no one can book them while they are in an off work period.
