Macondo Tulum

It was nice quiet at night ,but started 8 am. in the morning, the construction of another building. The pool was decent. Somewhat nice area, we could walk to several markets, coffee shop, restaurants. Wi-Fi was decent. The rooms was spacious. The reception man was really nice, I really appreciate iit.

Construction started 8am, we couldn't sleep. Kitchen shelves were duaty/ dirty. Several cups had lipstick stains on it. There is not much option for cooking, 2 pan without lids. The stove is really slow. The bathroom hadn't any towel holders, toilet paper holders, or dish detergent .there were three 3 days when we woke up and had a huge cocroach in master bedroom/ living room. We had no water the first day. And the last day. Had a rainy day once, and the power went out for a whole day.

The whole complex looks really nice, as well as the appartment. The pool is beautiful and we enjoyed spending time there. It is also comfortable and the 4 of us had really enough space inside. The staff at the reception was also helpful whenever needed, so we are happy about that, as we needed sometimes guidance.

Location was the main issue, as this was somewhere in between the centre and the beach. If you want to go to the centre you have to go through a really shady area, so we wouldn't recommend that. Otherwise the road to the beach is nice and well forested, so enjoyable. We had one problem with the AC when it was leaking, and this is where we were expecting some more urgency from them. They only sent someone the next say to fix it, and they also didn't say when exactly. Another thing is that the pans and pots could be better (the pan was really bad and we could barely clean it every time we used it). We also didn't have any room service which was weird because we stayed 7 days.

The penthouse rooftop was unkept, pool was not clean, bbq did not work, railing was dangerous. Tiles on floor were broken, upon arrival bedding was not clean, limited hot water.

The apartment was pretty and had good A/C. A short walk to central Tulum.

No one was at the lobby to give us our key. We had to figure it out ourselves. No coffee machine. Hot tub was dirty (completely green) and the pool was also unappealing.

We liked our apartment, the pool area, the gym and the cats. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms good. We also enjoyed the TV-set and the good wifi. It was good with big closets so we could unpack our bags. The man working for the hotel in the reception and the "gate keeper" were friendly and serviceminded. We also appreciated that we could rent bikes at the gate (150 pesos each per day).

The location of the hotel was not so good: located 20 minutes by foot from the city center in an area with lots of construction going on, dark streets and quite deserted area. First impression was "slum area" but in daylight we saw it was not so bad, but very dirty and lots a garbage everywere. The kitchen was very poorly equipped (two glasses, three cups and no forks nor spoons) with no sponge/brush to clean the plates. No detergent either. But when we asked for glasses etc they brought some. In order to have cleaning we had to ask for it, it was not obvious every day. We also did not at all appreciate the guy sitting at the front desk when the hotel staff was not there (the guy with earrings and headphones watching You Tube/TikTok while working). He could not assist us with anything (we asked for cleaning and extra keys) - he just said that he worked for another company. Why as he even sitting there, if he could not give service to the hotel guests?
