"Authentic Korean experience"

8.0

Old traditional Hanok so if you want to have an authentic Korean experience with Ondol, this is a place to be.

Hot water runs out when using with multiple people like my group of family, so it might take a while to get ready if you’re all taking a shower at the same time

"Peaceful immersive stay"

10.0

OMG! This is the perfect place to experience Korean culture, nature and history. I loved every minute and wish I planned for a longer stay! The hanok is well maintained and decorated by the artist/owner who is the sweetest and most welcoming host! The breakfast is delicious Korean style (not your average coffee and muffins). The sleeping arrangements are extremely comfortable and I will be coming back for more! Thank you for having me!

Everything was incredible.

"Exceptional, Authentic, Charming."

10.0

The proprietors greeted us even as we drove up and wasted no time in taking us to our rooms. We had asked for separate rooms for my wife and myself and another for my son. The rooms were located together could be either open to one another or segregated. The breakfast was exceptionally well presented, varied and representative of good, traditional Korean fare. The setting/location could not have been better; it was at a beautiful table set among beautiful artistry of our attentive and charming hostess, Jeonghee (I believe she also goes by Yasun but, being unfamiliar with Korean naming as well as the language, I have probably gotten both incorrect:-) Here is something deserving special mention: On our day of arrival it had been raining though it had mostly stopped. Being travel weary we asked after being shown our rooms if there was a nearby place to eat as the property is located out in the countryside. Not to worry we were told; there is a fine restaurant about a 10 minute walk from here. Shin Mingyu, brother to our delightful hostess, outfitted us with umbrellas, escorted us to a wonderful restaurant and introduced us to the owner. After a very good and relaxing meal which we took some time in enjoying we were astonished to find Jeonghee's brother waiting to escort us home,

This is not something that we did not like but deserves mention. The futons were a marvelous introduction to what has long been a traditional means of sleeping in Korea. We do not know whether the futons were Yo or Gae but, being unaccustomed to sleeping on them we supplemented them with quilts. Also, unaccustomed as we are to sleeping on the floor (and being kind of old), it took some practice to master the art of getting our old frames up from that position :) We were not told of this, but one feature that impressed and pleased us is that the floors, though, of course hard, are heated! Very cozy. In summary, while a nice memory foam pad may have pleased our cranky frames, this is actually something we are delighted to have experienced.

"Feeling at home in a traditional hanok"

10.0

The host was so lovely. She walked us to a restaurant she recommended, as we arrived around 6pm and there isn't very many restaurants around the area. (Duck bulgogi was delicious btw). It has a very homely vibe and the breakfast provided was fantastic. I am definitely not use to sleeping on the floor as it was quite hard on my squishy aussie body 😅 however since we were there in Autumn, the floor was heated and felt nice on the back. It is definitely an experience I would highly recommend.

"Lovely experience"

10.0

Staying at Yasun gallery made our trip to Korea even more special. We experienced sleeping in this beautiful typical house. The host, who is an artist, is very welcoming. Most of the decorations are made by her. She took care of us and prepared a typical breakfast that was served in her beautiful studio. The location is very peaceful and the garden is beautiful. It’s good to know that is easier to reach by taxi (which was very cheap) or a 15 minutes walk from the closest bus stop and that there are no restaurants or convenience stores around.

Nothing that we didn’t like. Sleeping on the floor may not be comfortable for everybody, but it’s part of the experience. Just a suggestion: it would be nice to have a softer lights (like warm floor lamps) to create a warmer atmosphere inside the house :)

"Impressive host and beautiful Hanok"

10.0

We expected just a nice Hanok place, but instead, we were surprised by a very welcoming and sweet host who tried to do everything to ensure a nice stay. She gave us a lot of tips for activities and restaurants, and even showed us around the neighboorhood. The host is also an artist, and she gifted us one of her artworks, as well as some tea she grows in her garden. The accomodation itself is quaintly situated and very beautiful, as well as reasonably accessible by bus including a 10min walk (however the last buses arrive quite early at ~9pm). I think during our whole trip in Asia this was by far the best experience!

Nothing really. Just two remarks: The host picked up learning English only quite recently. While her progress is already quite impressive, often we still needed to resort to Papago, which can get cumbersome if you want to talk a lot (and she surely is an interesting person to talk to!) Also, if you're above average size, be careful of the head since the door frames are quite small :) Banged my head several times.

"Authentic Korean traditional house with lovely hosts"

10.0

I stayed for one night with two of my colleagues from Norway. The place is located at beautiful countryside just outside of Gyeongju city center. It takes about 10-15 taxi ride to most of the well known tourist attractions. The location was perfect for enjoying tranquil nature and culture of the area. At night there is absolutely no city noise and we enjoyed sounds of insects hanging out at the terrace. The inside is beautifully renovated to preserve the traditional beauty but provide comfort from modern facility. The best thing about this property is the hosts. The hosts are genuinely kind and caring. It was very interesting to have a chat during breakfast. Breakfast is also lovely, where most of the ingredients are homemade and self harvested by the host. We truly enjoyed our stay.

I regretted that we only stayed for one night. The property is located on the foothills of Namsan National Park and we were told there is a trail from the back yard going to Namsan, where on can enjoy lesser known but more genuine sites of Silla.
