Mabamba Lodge

Nothing! After a 20-hour flight and the journey from the airport to the lodge, we were glad to have finally reached our destination, only to find the doors locked. The phone numbers provided didn’t work and it seemed the lodge was deserted. We hadn’t been given any prior warning and had to look for an alternative in the middle of the night – nothing like this has ever happened to me before.

A heads-up that the lodge was closed would have been the absolute bare minimum. As it was, it was just a huge disappointment.

Excellent location beside lake Victoria. Well landscaped with beautiful trees - a peaceful setting.

Mosquito nets around our bed didn’t fit leading to several bites in the night; the room with the bath we had booked was not available - being renovated. Track to the property was very rough - welcome to Uganda!

I loved how peaceful the place was and how helpful the staff were! The location is right on the water which made it perfect if you want to go on a boat tour or to see the Shoebills

I found the dinner to be very expensive for what it was and they did not say the cost up front which was a dissapointment

Personeel enorm vriendelijk en meedenkend, hadden zelfs een verrassing voor mijn jarige vrouw (zang, gebak en bloemetje uit eigen tuin), er was zelfs wifi (als er stroom was)

Je hebt een 4x4 nodig om er te komen, zeker als het heeft geregend. Stroom is er meer niet dan wel, maar daar hebben ze een generator voor.

We spent 4 nights here before our tour. It is a beautiful location with quick access to the Shoebill birds. The hotel arranged a boat transfer & airport pick up for us. They also arranged a village tour, walking bird tour and a sunset boat tour for us, all of which were fabulous, and the local guides were incredible. The pool and rooms are so nice! Staff are fantastic. Highly recommended!!

Die Lodge hat eine ideale Lage um die Mabamba Swamps zu besuchen. Am "Strand" der Lodge gibt es allerdings keinen Steg um in das Boot zu kommen, gerade für ältere Personen kann das problematisch werden.

Die Anfahrt ist schon einigermaßen eine Herausforderung (wir waren im Mietwagen unterwegs). Für eine Nacht gegen Ende der Reise würden wir das vermutlich nicht mehr machen. Der Empfang an der Rezeption war irgendwie etwas seltsam, aber vielleicht kam es uns auch nur so vor. Obwohl wir nicht an einem Wochenende dort waren (Montag auf Dienstag) war in der Nachbarschaft bis gegen 23 Uhr doch relativ laute Musik. An einem Wochenende verstehe ich das noch eher, aber unter der Woche ... Auch Mitten in der Nacht um drei Uhr lief plötzlich irgendwo das Radio, zumindest hatte es sich so angehört. Nach ca. 15 Minuten war es dann aber wieder leise. Generell waren wir der Annahmen, dass wir "Mitten in der Natur" wären. Uns wurde gesagt: Damit das warme Wasser zum Duschen kommt sollte man das Wasser 5 - 10 Minuten laufen lassen (was in einer Lodge/Unterkunft in Uganda relativ üblich ist. Ebenso wurde uns gesagt: falls das Wasser nicht warm kommt sollen wir Bescheid geben, dann würden sie und Wasser für uns Kochen. Nun ja ... Letztendlich kam GAR KEIN Wasser, wenn man den Hahn auf warmes Wasser einstellte ... Überrascht waren wir, als uns gesagt wurde, dass wir Continental Frühstück bekommen; dann aber doch ein etwas "umgangreicheres" Frühstück angeboten wurde (ohne Aufpreis). Das Frühstück war insgesamt Durchscchhnitt. Das Abendessen (nur Hauptspeise) war mit US $ 20 relativ teuer und im Vergleich zu unseren andere Unterkünften nichts Besonderes.

Incredibly beautiful lodge close to the lake and in a very secluded location. The road is long and bumpy to get there, but that just adds to the charm! Rooms and facilities are lovely and comfortable. And staff is incredibile!

Amazing place. Cozy and stylish room, chill and nice territory- very quiet, only nature and birds songs. Friendly staff and very tasty food. We really enjoyed this place
