Streamside Geodome

Beautiful location.

Having my own property listed on this platform that I manage, I am aware of how important honest and fair reviews are – I booked at Streamside Geodome as a Birthday surprise getaway for my partner and really went on the great reviews on here (which I thought justified the high rate). To say we are disappointed in the experience is an understatement. When there are facilities/services offered – those facilities and services are why we booked there (mainly the wood burning hot tub and the fireplace), they are what you pay for. The facilities on offer should all be functional and well maintained – you should be able to utilize them. Streamside Geodome has the potential to be as great as its listing portrays. Please take note of the following mentioned when booking here. 1. The wood burning hot tub – the wood burner is in dire need of a service and the flue and cowl need a serious clean, we managed to clear some of the soot from the cowl with a long twig which helped a little but bad airflow mixed with damp wood that was supplied made it impossible to use on the first evening there. Please take note we have used these before and know how to get them burning. The second evening we managed to get it going but it took 4 boxes of firelighters and newspaper that we bought in town. I queried the safety/cleanliness of the water in the tub with Lara and was assured that it is due to it coming from a reservoir which is fed from the mountain so it would be a bit murky (see picture attached), and it was refilled and cleaned after each guest. It didn’t help that there were long brown hair strands in the tub and the floor was slimy. We were prepared for the cold and were aware that the living space was open, we were not prepared for a fireplace that is long overdue a service, leaks internally when it rains (mix that with wood that is already damp) and due to this is redundant. The gas heater is a great touch but only beneficial if you site right next to it on the bar stools.

Loved that it has a rustic romantic feel, even in winter it’s got its own unique beauty.

The dome tent was very cozy, and we also liked the hot tub a lot. Cooking facilities were great

Although we are aware of the location. We found a lot of Scorpions and Big Spiders, which made the stay/sleep a bit uneasy

This place is pure magic, beautifully done and I can’t wait to be back. Honestly a dream! It was super easy to check in and they were super nice to give us an extra hour after check out so we could finish our hike.

The hosts were a bit slow to respond at times, for example we got the instructions for WiFi and so on only at 20h30 in the evening the day of check in even after repeatedly reaching out the day before and on the same day. But this place is so gorgeous we forgot all about it :)

The accommodations on this farm are just great. Each one has its own little private space and different vibe. We have stayed at the Sunset and Moonrise Domes as well. The stream side dome has a lot more to offer as far as indoor / outdoor living space and comfort. When you are in this space you feel like you are away and see only nature and mountains. The sound of an owl at night and birds in the morning.

Nothing, that we did not like. It was absolutely great. I could suggest perhaps to create a bit of shade for the time after midday, when the sun comes quite strongly into the living and kitchen space. But you can always find a shady area in the garden.
