Ruigtevallei Lodge

We booked a room on a bed and breakfast basis. We were told twice by the host (by message before we arrived and then again on arrival) that unfortunately they weren't doing breakfasts anymore so we must provide our banking details to get a refund. I did so and nothing. When I followed-up I was now told they weren't giving a refund because it was a mistake from Bookings. They did not compensate us and failed to honour their word. They consider the client must bear the loss for their bad management. Without the two breakfasts the room was overpriced for what you get.

The view and setting of the charlets was very nice

The shower water was smelly, rather opted to take a shower at our end distanation.

The location

The bore hole has no filer so the water smells very much like sulphur. No tv or aircons nor wifi in the units. Breakfast was canceled before arrival. No refund yet.

Nicely appointed unit with comfortable beds. Very friendly and helpful hosts.

Pool was a bit dirty and the bath needs an upgrade.

This place has a low rating for a reason. The location, staff, roomcomfort were not worthy of the money. We especially booked this place because it had breakfast included. On the day of arrival we suddenly got a text that they decided not to do breakfast anymore and that we would get a refund which was a lower amount then we paid for. After our stay we never received a refund or compensation because they suddenly said that it was booking.coms fault for saying that breakfast was included. The common room was also very dirty and there were cockroaches and bugs everywhere. Wouldn’t recommend this place for this amount of money.
