Enjoyed staying in this beautiful historic building converted into lodging and occasional entertainment venue. It has stunning views over the Montego river. Bedrooms are large, and bathroom is modern. Ana was a lovely host, and served breakfast in an atmospheric kitchen. Breakfast had fresh bread, fruit, baked goods, cheese, meats, juice, yogurt.

Rooms are large but rather sparesely furnished. A little more storage space to make the room more guest-friendly, would be appreciated. Also, since this is not a hotel, but a serviced apartment, there seems to be little accountability to solve problems. The shampoo dispenser in our shower had come off the wall, but when we reported it to the host, there was no urgency to fix it. Maybe we need to modify our expectations accordingly, so we are not disappointed.

Es ist ein einzigartiges Zimmer in einer wunderschön hergerichteten Wohnung einer Dachterrasse. Ana hat uns sehr herzlich begrüßt und uns morgens ein leckeres Frühstück mit Pastei de nata, Orangensaft und frischem Obst gezaubert. Auch die Lage direkt in der Nähe der Universität war super.

Dass wir nur eine Nacht bleiben konnten.

We loved staying in an historic building with so much character. The location was excellent as we wanted to explore the University buildings which were literally around the corner. We enjoyed spending time in the beautifully tiled sitting rooms and on the spacious terrace with far reaching views across the river. It was so quiet at night that excellent sleep was guaranteed.

AltoCanto was such a pleasant suprise. I booked last minute with not too many expectations and was blown away by the excellent service that Ana provided and the comfort of the room. It is a charming place with lots of history, at a prime location, and one of the most legitimate Portuguese experiences I ever had, including the lovely breakfast Ana prepares in a proper Portuguese kitchen. The place is full of character and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Coimbra for business and leisure.

Petit bémol pour la salle de bain, petite comparé au reste mais reste très bien, et autre petit point sur la taille du lit, confortable mais qui n'est pas un King size comme annoncé

It is a very unique place, great views of the mondego, a lot of history and a good bed We enjoyed the hospitality of the owners who gave us some background and insights on the house and also recommended us places to see and restaurants in the city

The bath room was quite small - done expect a wellness oasis The house is quirky and comes with all the benefits and challenges of such an old house. You either love the history (then you will have a very special time there) or you don’t (then probably it’s a bit challenging)
