AltoCanto

Alto Canto was a nice surprise on our trip to Portugal. Ana and Joanna made sure to stay in touch with us for arriving safely at Alto Canto. Driving down the cobble stone street and (easily) finding a parking spot near the house was a comfortable start into the locality of Coimbra. Stepping into the house, we became guests of the historic Coimbra - if you feel like spending a very few Euros more, go for the Superior King Room on the second floor. While I was looking for the lock on our room, my wife realized that we had rented the entire space with staircase, bedroom, large sitting room and two balconies overlooking the Mondego river :) Breakfast was served in the (historic) kitchen room and you can enjoy the last cup of coffee sitting outside on the large terrace overlooking the lower parts of the city. While we very much enjoyed our entire stay at Alto Canto, you do realize the challenges of keeping up with a larger historic building. Nonetheless, the entire place, including bedrooms and bathrooms, were kept very clean. Alto Canto is located "below the university", just steps away from the city center. Thanks a lot to Ana and Joanna for a great stay in Coimbra - and we happily recommend Alto Canto to fellow travellers coming to Coimbra!

The building is authentic and in the very middle of the University of Coimbra's neighborhood. Located only a 5-minute walk from the city centre, the overall organisation of the structure is good. The host is available and easily reachable for any kind of requests.

Information at the arrival (e. g. breakfast organisation, amenities in the room, possibility of changing towels) can be improved. We had high expectations on the breakfast, which was a bit limited in terms of quality and quantity, with products from the supermarket.

כמו לגור בארמון מפואר של פעם, עם נוף עוצר נשימה מהחלונות, חדרים סופר מפוארים וענקיים. הכל נוצץ ונקי וארוחת הבוקר נהדרת.

המקום קצת מוזר אבל זו חוויה. קחו בחשבון שמדובר בבית ענק (כמו ארמון) שיש בו רק שני חדרים. זה לא מלון. אנחנו היינו משפחה של 4 אז למעשה היינו לבדנו לגמרי בכל המבנה הענק (שכולל אינספור חדרים מעוצבים בפאר כמו ארמונות של פעם) זו חוויה מיוחדת אבל הבדידות לא מתאימה לכל אחד

So-so breakfast

La ubicación y vistas eran excelentes. El complejo es un palacete muy pintoresco, con habitaciones enormes y una vista genial. La cama muy comoda. Un espacio unico. Fácil acceso y proceso de check in lo cual es un plus! Personal muy amable.

El baño era un poco pequeño en comparación a la habitación y el espacio se sentía como que le faltaban muebles de lo grande que era habitación pero en realidad tenía todo lo necesario. El desayuno estaba rico pero me hubiera gustado algo caliente tipo huevos, pero estuvo bien.

・ホストがフレンドリーで感じ良い。 ・設置された石鹸類がロキシタンで嬉しかった。 ・朝ご飯が美味しかった。 ・チェックアウトの際、チョコレート BOXのプレゼントがあり嬉しい驚きだった。 ・コインブラ大学へ行くにはとても好立地。

・傾斜の強い上り坂にある。我々はリスボンからの一泊旅で身軽だったが、スーツケースを引きながらこの宿に向かうのはかなり大変と思う。体力のない方はタクシー利用が望ましい。 ・必ずしも宿の問題ではないが、近所でパーティーがあったらしく、午前3時過ぎまで外が騒がしく殆ど眠れなかった。 ・エアコンがない施設であることから、夏の暑さが未知数（大きな扇風機の設置はあるが）。 ・ゴミ箱がトイレのサニタリーボックスしかないため、べッド周りにあると便利と思った。 ・坂道を往復したくない方は、予め夕食を取ってからチェックインされた方が良いのかも。

Hallway to the right of entrance needs to be lit permanently as light is poor and there are steps which could easily be missed.
