The Wellington Hotel

It’s not obvious the single rooms do not have an en-suite shower. The shower taps in the communal bathrooms were broken, unable to move it from hot, water was scolding hot.

I stay in hotels every week with work so rarely leave a review. Unless really good/bad. this was terrible. i emailed about dinner reservation, with no reply. turned up to find they had stopped serving food at 6pm because of a pub quiz, so had to find elsewhere to eat. previous reviews had said the breakfast was lovely here, i was told upon arrival they stopped doing breakfasts 6 months ago. and also was told they did not reply to my email as the wifi had been down for over a week, so i could not use any internet, and yet they had previously emailed me to tell me there was a pub quiz on ?? i also paid extra for ' A delux room' This was far from delux, in fact basic would have been a better desription. Paid for a room with no food, breakfast or internet. Really really poor from the owner.

Breakfast only available on weekends despite Booking.com showing it was available at an extra cost. This caused unnecessary confusion and embarrassment as I'd brought members of my team with me and had to find somewhere suitable for breakfast. Given there were 6 of us (spread across two different bookings) staying for the same work event, for the extra charge this could've been a decent extra bit of revenue for the hotel if communicated prior, as we would've had breakfasts without question.

Staff were lovely, the bar and eating area was nice. Good quality lagers. Cosy. Dogs welcomed. Located right in the middle of town. We were only overnighting Sunday into Monday morning. Room was quiet overnight but could have been the day of the week. Car parking is exceptional. Plenty of space. Room was roasting when we got there but was easily controlled. local Pizza place is highly recommended - lush! As are the local bakery / eateries.

Hehe the room was.. passable. Single glazed windows that did at least open a bit. We had a view of the car park and some old cabling on the roof outside. The floor was on a significant slope presumably due to the age of the building - so therefore the bed was too! Head end lower than feet. The TV is small and from about 2006 but worked, once the remote's batteries were given the "magic rub". Only 2 plug points in the main room above the "desk", one for the tv the other for the kettle if you want to use it, which needed to be moved closer to the socket on account of a very short cable. Only just fillable under the sink tap... and no fridge. Which brings me to the bathroom - in our room it was en-suite as opposed to a shared one down the hall which some other rooms come with so a bonus in that regard. The sink was ok. The shower; one of the metal fittings that hold the curved heavy glass doors in its' runner fell off and bounced off my head when I got in - a big chunk of alloy. The shower could possibly burn you to death if you are not careful to master its' controls before entering. The lino... to say it's a poor fit is being kind, it looked like a 4 year old with a stanley knife laid it. I dread to think what state the wood underneath is in. No food available in the evening when we got there as they don't serve food on Sundays. Breakfast was also absent the next day on account of the fact they do not serve food on... Mondays. So we went down the road for both occasions - local Pizza place is highly recommended - lush! As are the local bakery / eateries.

Very tired and old fashioned rooms. In need of refurbishment. Felt like I'd gone back 30 years in time ! Tiny bed !

Room 11. Radiators in bathroom & bedroom did not work. Electric portable heater was in the bedroom to compensate for this, but was noisy & inefficient (soon lost heat once turned off). Hot water lasted only one shower. As the second in, I was left rinsing off in very cold water. The view from the net curtain room was a full blockade of roof tiles. There are no breakfast facilities at this venue. There is free parking at this venue. £90 is way too expensive!!
