Quiet secluded spot

Short staffed, poor roads, plumbing issues, mediocre food

The staff was consistently excellent.

Very comfortable hotel with nice small restaurant on site. Two other hotels in the same ownership group are nearby so that you can walk to them and share the facilities. The pool here is small and the beach access small but you can walk down to a sister hotel And enjoy a change of pace there. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Very relaxed, low-key atmosphere far from the craziness of Cancun. Wonderful balcony and birds and stars at night.

Food was delicious, lots of great options. Very safe and staff was incredibly accommodating. Had a massage and facial which was lovely.

For the cost, I expected more. The room was nice, but smallish. And the toilet area was like a phonebooth. The food was good, but the service was painfully slow. I suspect that's a function of the small kitchen. My family works out at home and when away. The fitness room was equipped only with two pieces of cardio equipment, and dumbbells...that's it. And the fitness room was not clean. Very small beach frontage, but hotel made it work. Perhaps biggest complaint is road providing access to hotel. Unpaved, rutted and very slippery. And to access the few other restaurants nearby, one had no choice but to walk it.

Staff is nice and friendly

- Value for money is very off! The hotel is amortized, they are showing all the time major discounts to attract more clients but even the discounted rate is really over priced; Biggest problem is amortization and no ownership when it comes to cleaning and taking care of the property; - The beach is nothing you can compare with Tulum beach. Not good to walk or swim; - Our room was amortized and there was mould on curtains, bathroom silicons, closet did not work, air-con made such a noise I slept 3 hours- we really tried to shorten the stay and get refund for the nights to come but they did not let us from the hook; we just felt we would like to leave after the first night and did not want to spend there another 4 nights but they did not allow this; - Road to the property is ridiculous, it was actually so bad it was fun - like a true safari made as laugh the first time but after we drove it 10 times it was not fun anymore; - Sun-beds looked so bad that you did not want to use them; On a positive note staff is very friendly and i feel bad they had to deal with our complaints; They also offered us another room as well but by that time we already felt bad;

Avoid this place at all cost! While the staff were really nice, this place is unkept, dirty and stink. I regret my stay there. I couldn’t enjoy the pool because of the dirtiness even the beatch is unkept. And it is expensive, the pictures do not reflect the reality at all. This is the first bad review I ever had to write !

We had a great time. The hotel is quiet and easy access to the beach.

Hotel Alea Tulum is open air with a designer pool area and outdoor seating for meals next to the beach. The beach is more rocky than sandy with sargasso grass drifts on the seashore. Across the dirt road is a wonderful denote. The staff is excellent! The food options are flavorful. There’s isn’t any nightlife within walking distance. Bars are in resort villas/residences/hotels. It’s quiet.
