The food service was slow so we ate very late - get there early! The access pathways to the accommodation are steep, so be ready for it 😅

We were not given the room same as what we booked (facilities mentioned at time of booking.). No electric kettle, tea, coffee arrangement. No WiFi in rooms (only in reception) and the mobile data has poor reception due to location. No hair dryer (which is a must in such cold location). The contact no. for tje room service was switched off.

We waited 2 and a half hours for our meal the first evening because, we were told eventually when we asked how much longer we would have to wait, they had run out of gas. We preordered our meal the following night but it was completely underwhelming. Many small items on the menu were unavailable: coffee, honey, mayo.

It took the water tank in the toilet forever fill up after flushing; the bathroom floor drained very slowly; there was no hair dryer.

Our experience at the Nyungwe Nziza Eco Lodge was disappointing, to say the least. While the location is undeniably beautiful, the accommodations fell far below our expectations. The rooms are very basic and sparsely furnished, giving off a camping-style vibe rather than an eco-lodge experience. The shower and bathroom facilities were uncomfortable, and the overall hygiene, particularly the bedding, was concerning—there was a lingering smell that made our stay quite unpleasant. Accessibility was another major issue, as the rooms were not easily reachable. Although the staff was friendly and did their best to accommodate us, it couldn’t make up for the subpar facilities. We ended up cutting our trip short due to these issues and would not return to this hotel. Unless you are specifically seeking a rustic, camping-style experience and prioritize location over comfort, I cannot recommend this accommodation.
