The Otunna Guest House

Dinesh war ein so guter Gastgeber mit viel Expertise zu seiner Heimat und der Natur. Die Unterkunft hatte alles, was man brauchte und das Grundstück super schön gestaltet. Es war wie in einem kleinen Dschungel. Das Frühstück war mehr als gut und hat eine riesen Auswahl an Spezialitäten geboten. Außerdem hat Dinesh viele Kontakte und konnte uns super zu unserer Route beraten. Wie kommen gerne wieder! ☀️

Such a lovely example of Sri Lankan hospitality. Right from booking till departure, they were incredibly communicative and responsive. Our stay in Sigiriya was wonderful at Otunna guest house. Highly recommend the cute chalet - very cozy and well furnished. The property is at a great location and walking distance to get stunning views of the rock. You must try the food here -authentic sri lankan meals and so delicious. They also made accommodations for a fully vegetarian meal

What I loved about Otunna Guest House was the genuine hospitality and warm welcome from the hosts. The property offered a peaceful and authentic Sri Lankan experience, away from the crowds, while still being comfortable and beautifully maintained. The rooms were clean, spacious, and thoughtfully prepared, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The food was a real highlight, with delicious home-cooked meals that showcased local flavours and fresh ingredients. The surrounding scenery was stunning, creating a calm and tranquil atmosphere that made it difficult to leave. Most of all, it was the kindness, care, and local knowledge of the hosts that made the stay so memorable. Otunna Guest House felt less like accommodation and more like being welcomed into a home. Our stay at Otunna Guesthouse was simply wonderful! Dinesh and his family gave us an incredibly warm welcome and made us feel right at home from the very first moment. Their open and friendly nature, along with their many great tips about the surrounding area, made our stay truly special. The apartment was very comfortable, lovingly furnished, and exceptionally clean. We were particularly impressed by the beautiful garden – a little oasis of tranquility where you can perfectly relax and enjoy nature. An absolute highlight was the food: fresh, authentic, and prepared with so much love. The fresh fruit juices were simply unbeatable and a daily treat! We wholeheartedly recommend Otunna Guesthouse and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you so much to Dinesh and his family for this unforgettable experience!

I read so many reviews about Dinesh and his family so I booked … and we were not disappointed. Such a fantastic stay with so much warmth and care! The breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were so comfortable - we all slept peacefully every night. We were walking distance from the main attractions and the street cafes etc. Although I did prefer having dinner made by Dinesh’s mum. If you looking for a place that values nature and has genuine hospitality I highly recommend it!

Dinesh è stato un host eccezionale. Quando visiti un Paese così lontano e diverso dal nostro, è importante avere qualcuno che ti sia di supporto. E lui lo è sempre stato, anche prima dell'arrivo. Struttura pulita, dotata di ottimi servizi (aria condizionata, frigo, bollitore). Colazione super abbondante.

My family and I stayed at Otunna Guest House in February 2026. The house has an excellent location not far from Lion Rock. It is not very big, but our family of five (2 adults, 1 child, and 2 teens) felt comfortable. Dinesh, his wife, and his parents are very welcoming and lovely people. We are very grateful that they shared their traditional Sri Lankan cuisine with us. The breakfasts they made for us were absolutely delicious. Dinesh helped us organise our transfer and found us a wonderful driver, Sanju, who took us from Sigiriya to Dambulla, then to Kandy, Ambuluwawa, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and finally to Weligama. Dinesh, thank you for your wonderful hospitality. You truly made us feel at home. Wishing you all the best and hoping we can come back someday!

We were very welcomed by Dinesh and his family. Was a very peaceful stay in a lovely cabin and nice forest setting. Close to Lion Rock walking distance to local restaurants. Breakfast was amazing.
