Sheraton North Houston at George Bush Intercontinental

I came to Houston for a social event held at this hotel. The location is excellent for an event bringing in people from all over, as it is a short distance from Houston International Airport (IAH) and the hotel offers a free shuttle service in both directions. Of course, in Houston a “short distance” is relative, meaning at least ten minutes driving. The hotel staff go out of their way to help and do so cheerfully. The rooms are nicely furnished and decorated, with very comfortable beds. The bar/restaurant on the lobby floor has a fine basic menu and a well-appointed bar, including a good on-tap selection. There’s no problem taking food and drinks into the lobby if you want to relax on a comfy sofa with friends. There are some items that need improvement, which is why I gave the hotel 4 rather than 5 stars. The elevators were slow and quirky (that was the most significant problem). The elevators’ card readers were a bit temperamental, and there was a problem (eventually solved) programming the key cards to access the floor on which most of the event’s parties were held. If it’s possible constructionwise to enlarge the main room in the hospitality suites to better accommodate a sizable crowd, that would be a great upgrade. Some of the mechanical infrastructure could do with an upgrade as well: my guest room was stuffy any time the HVAC was turned off and the temperature controls weren’t accurate; my door lock was a bit weird (I had to turn the inside door handle to disengage the bolt when closing the door); the hot water taps in the bathroom supplied warm but never hot water. Except perhaps for enlarging the main room in the hospitality suites, fixing these seems readily doable. But overall, I had a very pleasant stay at this property.

All the staff was very friendly. The location is great and the airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes. We will use this hôtel again.

It was fine

Stayed two nights and I really like the shuttle driver Jesus, the restaurant staff, the comfy beds, the great HQ tea they had in the restaurant. Nice to have a paid washer and dryer for guest to use. The area has few restaurant options but the hotel across the street has a place called 747 which is good as long as you can afford 60 bucks.

Room was dirty, a wet towel was behind a curtain by the fridge, probably the one that was used to wipe down everything in the room, the ceiling was black from the air vent of the ac, pink mildew by the bach tub, breakfast had old croissants, tasted like they were in the fridge for few days and then just put in the over, food tastles, eggs tasted like plastic, sausage links were undercooked. Sorry but this is the fist review like this from me....

Avoid this location at all costs. I paid for parking at the Sheraton IAH thinking I’d have security and peace of mind. My car was broken into while under an active reservation. The property had 24/7 patrol, yet I was never notified. No police or incident report was filed until I showed up and demanded one. They even taped my window without my consent — no call, no message, nothing. If I had parked on the street, at least I would’ve expected to be on my own. Instead, I paid for “security” that failed me entirely. I’m currently fighting the claim and escalating because this level of negligence and disregard for customer property is unacceptable. Don’t let the nice branding fool you — you’re better off parking somewhere else.
