The Thick Forest

A wonderful place with houses located at treetop level, offering a stunning direct view of Sigiriya and a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere.

This is a really special hotel in a really special location. Waking up in the morning in the trees with that view was amazing. Also, the owner and staff were super helpful and really nice to us and the breakfast was delicious!!

There is some things that should be taken care of like the mosquito nets that had holes, on the stained sheets. Also take in account that if you get the budget room and want the AC, you will have to pay at the property per day of use.

A unique stay in the jungle. The treehouse was good fun to stay in. There was hot water, mosquito nets and a delicious breakfast every morning. The hosts were fantastic, really going above and beyond during our stay - making us a home remedy when one of us was sick, calling a bus in the rain for us and checking our well-being during the hikes. The bike hire was brilliant to explore the local lakes and the hikes to the rocks were within walking distance. You will need a tuk tuk home from restaurant due to the risk of wild elephants at night.

Don’t expect Wi-Fi here as in the jungle.

The service person barely spoke English. Nonetheless he was very helpful. Also, breakfast was good. In addition laundry service (2200 rps) was nice. Beds are comfortable but we did not sleep well because of the rodents/animals in the room and on the roof.

Rats in the shower (via the drain, hence we put a bottle of our water on it to stop them from entering rhat way), frogs in the bathroom and also very humid. Also, the owner asked more money than the booking.com price as he added his own fee to be paid to booking on the price. Not very nice. We wanted to enjoy our holiday so paid and left. In addition, there was a huge spider in the room (never seen such a big one in my life during any travels). Unfortunately, despite all the setbacks, we could not shorten our stay.

Good homestay when visiting Sigiriya and Pidurangala (you can visit both from the balcony) Delicious breakfast!

Good location for both hikes. Unusual place to stay if you want something in nature. Breakfast was very good.

The treehouse was very wobbly.

The thick forest was set in the jungle and very peaceful. The view was amazing of the close by rocks. We were severed a lovely breakfast.

The building felt quite unstable and the shower was average.
