"Worst experience with the manager"

2.0

I WOULD NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN I’m doing this review in hopes that no one else would have to experience what we went through. I’m including pictures to show what the room looked like when we received it. This is a long review. But the worst part of this review is that I was actually YELLED at by the manager in their lobby in front of multiple people. So heres what happened…… We checked in the Dubuque Marriott Townhomes Suites Friday evening. When we went into our room, we noticed right away that there was dog poop on the carpet and pet hair on the couch along with a stain. We promptly went back downstairs to the desk and requested a new room. We were told they were sold out and there are no other rooms of that type available. But we could move into a different style room. We specifically paid more for this room because we needed a separate bedroom from the main area. So they offered to come up and clean up the dog poop and thoroughly clean our room the next day. We accepted that. Late morning on Saturday we received a phone call offering us to clean the room and also expressed they were going to give us $30 off per day. We did not ask for any discounts on the room. But thought that that was a very nice gesture. They asked us what time would be convenient to come. At 2:45 someone knocked on our door and asked if they could come in and clean. We told them we have to get ready to go to a wedding and would be out of the room at 3:30. They did come back and change out the towels and run the sweeper in the room. Later that night when we got back from our wedding, we stopped in at the desk and requested a late check out for the next day. We explained to the desk attendant our son has a late flight and we would like to have a late check out. He looked on the computer and said you can have up until 4 o’clock the next day, but we will have to change out your key. We told him we would stop down in the morning to make the exchange as our son was still out. He agreed that would work. My husband ( a black man) went down to make the exchange the next morning, Sunday. The manager was at the desk. She abruptly said to him we are not doing late checkouts. He tried to explain to her what had taken place, she did not care so he left. Later I got down to the desk to talk with someone, there were many people in the lobby trying to check out. I started to talk to one of the associates and I was interrupted by the manager, who was working with someone else to tell me, I already told your husband we are not doing a late check out. I tried to explain to her what had transpired and our arrangements had been made based on what we were told the night before. She just kept abruptly, interrupting me repeating herself that they are not doing late check outs. I asked her if she could give me a reason why, what had changed. She told me they were sold out. Then I ask her, can I book the room again for another night. She told me you can at whatever the current rate is. I found that to be interesting if they were sold out. I did try to express to her that I was surprised by her attitude with me, considering that we’ve had nothing but problems with this room. At that point, she started to YELL at me and tell me how they gave us $30 off and offered to clean it. And continued to YELL and raise her voice at me in front of multiple people in the lobby. I was humiliated and embarrassed so I walked away. I just want to say we were not asking for anything free!! We would’ve happily paid for the late check out. I did report this to their corporate office. And to my surprise, I did get a call back later on Sunday afternoon, asking me for more details of what happened. I’m still not asking for anything free. I do not want free points or free stays. I would like for this manager to be reprimanded. So that nobody else will have to deal with what I dealt with. I feel we were treated this way sadly, because my husband was black. UPDATE…. ALyssa Jordan (the area manager) did call me on Monday to

"Good hotel but you'll need ear plugs"

5.0

Lovely hotel with nice staff. Bonus ot have 7 Hills Brew House opposite. We ate there both nights.

The noise from the horns of the freight trains running past throughout the night disturbed our sleep.

"A great newer hotel in downtown Dubuque"

8.0

I spent one night at this well-run hotel in downtown Dubuque. When I pulled up, people were enjoying the fire pit outside and parking was easy. The woman working the front was friendly, fast and efficient. The rooms are spacious and have a small kitchen. My second floor room was spotless and was quiet. The complementary breakfast was your typical fare with scrambled eggs, real bacon, turkey, bacon, as well as bread items as well. There is a brewpub across the street. I would definitely stay here again

"It’s an OK hotel but overpriced "

6.0

From the outside this looks like an assisted living facility. At a minimum, it needs better signage to identify the hotel. I asked for an extra pillow at check in but the clerk said they likely did not have any it she would have someone check but I never heard back from her or anyone else. The room was ok - very small but functional. For the price it was not worth it.

No early checkin due to staffing. Great brewery next to hotel to while away the time.
