"Great little get away"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt Regency for a friend's wedding. We are sad to see it demolished, but we are looking forward to the new building and amenities coming. Please let us know when it is completed so we can return for another mini vacation.

"Nice room, people; beat up public areas"

8.0

Stayed one night. Apparently, the hotel is closing soon and will be demolished, replaced by condos and a Hyatt Centric. The public areas (elevators, hallways) had not been maintained well, likely due to the imminent closure. They were beat up. Thankfully, the room was in better shape. It was clean, had a nice balcony, and had a comfortable bed and acceptable bathroom. Internet was free and fast. The latte from the coffee bar was delicious. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Overall, a suitable stay. My last, I guess!

"Gross"

2.0

Stayed here for a work function. The room was filthy. AC didn’t work. Bugs. Place is being torn down so of course it doesn’t matter to them. Food is overpriced. Staff is rude. Starbucks people were nice. Definitely won’t be back even when they have a new one built.

"Nice view and staff but rooms were horrible and food was old"

2.0

Staff are nice, view is beautiful! Wish I could say the same for the hotel. It was bad. The rooms are very outdated, the food I ordered was old, balcony in the room had cracks and seemed very unsafe with the rails. Ac in the room smelled dirty. I was not happy with the room. It gave roach motel vibes.

"Housekeeping must improve to the normal Hyatt standards"

6.0

The front desk and housekeeping staff should be trainned to maintain the Hyatt quality standards. The restaurant employees were very nice. Also the bar employees to. The valet services were excellent. The hotel access to amenities also was very good. Housekeepin and front desk were terrible

"Very Poor & Disappointing"

2.0

This is definitely NOT a Hyatt Regency. Valet parking at times non-existent (when were there they parke dmy car in the street - something I could have done myself). No restaurant! Staff totaklly demotivated. Housekeeping still not at room by 4pm. Didn;'t even bother to lift all the shutters on the pool bar during the day.

"Great location but disappointing experience"

4.0

This is a good location downtown and the staff were friendly, however, my review is related to a couple things. First, we were charged $30 per day for a “resort fee“. This is mandatory, regardless of whether you use any of the so-called amenities. My reservation had two rooms, so that added $60 per day to our cost of staying there. When I asked the person at the front desk about this, I was told essentially that it was in the fine print of my reservation. This is not the first time that this has happened at a hotel, and it is a sneaky, unethical way of adding Cost without revealing it in the room rate that you see online. The second issue was related to a horrible smell coming out of the air vent in one of our rooms. It got progressively worse, to the point that we called the front desk about it. It turned out that there was a leak on the floor above us, which was causing the odor. We were not comped for this.

"Lots of Add Ons"

4.0

The hotel is older in need of updating. In fact, it's closing on June 1 and set to be demolished to make way for condos so ongoing maintenance is just about non existent. The A/C was freezing as we were told it's unable to be fixed However, this hasn't stopped them from overcharging for forced valet parking ($40) and a resort fee of $30, neither of which can be deleted. I just wish they could just add those fees into their rate instead of arbitrarily adding them on to a "reasonable" nightly rate. In my circles, it's called a "cash grab". $8 for a Bud Light and $13 for a glass of wine for a place that's closing. This why we prefer Marriott and Hilton.

"Hyatt Regency lives up to its name"

10.0

Fabulous property by the Arts District in Sarasota overlooking a marina and also by the beach. Great service. Great bar. Late night drinks available at the front desk. Inviting pool area, great workout room, and complimentary popsicles completed the mix.

"ehh!"

6.0

Average experience for an average hotel. Definitely not on par with the price charged. Skip the breakfast buffet at $30+ per person, its definitely not worth that. Hotel is priced upscale but its just another hotel. Bathrooms are kind of small.restaurants are way overpriced. Drinks from the bar are priced fairly. $45 a day for parking on top of the stay is ridiculous with all the added on taxes.
