Hyatt Regency Sarasota

On our last day, the hotel had a waterpipe burst. We learned about it when we tried to exit the building for a morning run. The stairwell was flooded. We then discovered that we had no water or toilet flushing. The hotel made no attempts to notify us of what had happened. When we checked out, I had to ask for compensation so they waived the $30 resort fee. Unacceptable.

We enjoyed the pool area but chairs are limited and you aren’t able to utilize the pool/hot tub once the sunsets. We hoped to utilize the water toys (kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boat). The first time we tried the staff said it was too windy so we couldn’t take anything out. The 2nd time we tried they said the paddle boat had been broken and they didn’t think it had been fixed yet. It was in fact not fixed so we weren’t able to take it out. When we stayed in 2024 self park was available. This year it was not. The only parking option was valet and it cost $50 per night. We booked a breakfast package through Expedia to avoid having to pay for breakfast during our stay. However, even after telling several different hotel staff that we had prepaid, and even after writing a note about it directly on our breakfast check, we were still charged for breakfast one morning. Had we not double checked with front desk staff about this, an unnecessary charge would have been added to my credit card. When we went to use the laundry facilities, the change machine was out of order (the washer and dryer only accept quarters). When we asked the front desk if we could exchange dollars for quarters in order to utilize the laundry services, we were told the front desk staff did not have access to any cash. We were directed to the barista. Initially she told us she didn’t have enough change to give us $3 in quarters. Staff did not seem concerned with customer satisfaction. Not our best hotel stay.

The only thing this hotel has is it's location next to the Van Wezel theatre. The room with a balcony was OK, but the bathroom was unusually small. There was evidence of extreme economies ranging from miniscule bottles of shampoo and the general state of the hotel giving the impression that it is due for remodeling.

Beautiful spot to stay while we attended a function at Marina Jack’s. We took a $2 shuttle bus from Sarasota Airport (about 10 minute trip). When it came time to go to the marina, we decided to walk which only took about 15 minutes. Friendly people, great service. While i agree with other reviewers about the hotel needing updating, for me it did not affect our stay at all. I would definitely stay here again!

My son and I spent a special weekend at your hotel while in town to watch the Orioles. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite meet the expectations we’ve come to associate with Hyatt. I was hoping to relax by the pool, but there was never any available seating, which made it difficult to enjoy the area. Similarly, we had looked forward to grabbing a bite to eat or a drink at the bar, but there was consistently no seating available there either. Given the number of guests, I would have expected more options or accommodations to be open to handle the volume. Additionally, I was surprised at how small the beds were—they felt smaller than full size, which wouldn’t have worked well if we had brought the rest of our family. It is a valet only lot - no self parking options. Expect to pay $42. Overall, it wasn’t the level of experience we typically receive from Hyatt properties. Next year when we return to Sarasota for spring training, we will likely look at other options for our stay.

The view from our hotel window was gorgeous! I had a great experience at check in and check out. The valets were cheery and positive. The rest of the hotel was subpar with wet, dirty floors, a noisy pool area, one person working the pool bar/kitchen, a below average gym with equipment in poor condition, and a couple staff members seemed like we were bothering them when we spoke to them.
