Hyatt Regency Phoenix Downtown

The only reason I ended up staying here is b/c I messed up a reservation at a competitor's property where I had status and they had no room for me. Fortunately, this Hyatt had a deal with an event nearby and I was able to get in. The rate was competitive with the original hotel I messed up at. Where to start? Let's start with the bad and end on a higher note. 1. The parking garage is only a block away, but is not easy to get to as you have to walk almost a full block to get there. It's also not lighted very well and isolated. Ladies, be wary if you're going to/from your car at night. The distance makes things difficult if you have load/unload event items on a daily basis. It's also not easy to exit as you have to drive around in a non-linear fashion. No in and out privileges either unless you want to pay an additional $6/day. 2. The room keys needed to be reset virtually daily. Why? B/c we eventually discovered that putting the room key next to even your car keys can scramble them. I've probably spent 2000 nights at hotels in this century and this is the first time I've had that problem. VERY frustrating. Oh, the elevators run slow. It seemed like there were always people in line to get on them. 3. The gift/convenience shop. Hey, how about $8 for a liter of water?! Yep. That was not even the most expensive brand either- just Dasani. And you thought gas prices were high lol. I didn't know the area well or even the hotel. The next day, I discovered an auto fill water fountain about 100ft away from the shop. There are also a grocery and CVS about a block away, so some of that could be on me. 4. Do you like live entertainment? Well, how about mediocre singing? Well, you get that while waiting for the elevators at night from the 11th floor! Huh? The main restaurant is an open air restaurant near the elevator bank and you can hear the droning musicianship while waiting for your elevator to arrive! 5. The shower had no rail to grab or "sticky" tape in the tub. They did have a roll out rubber mat you put in there, but the surface of the tub is so slippery I nearly fell twice when I got one foot off the mat. Ok. Let's get to the good (why it made 3 stars and not worse). 1. Sydney is the big reason it got 3-stars. She went above and beyond the call of duty at the front desk (as opposed to "work to standard" rule that was the MO there) to make the trip more enjoyable. Thank you Sydney! 2. The open air restaurant has good food and is reasonably priced for luxury hotel fare. Service was good as well. 3. The morning breakfast "quick meal" store (not the aforementioned convenience store) also had a broad selection and was quiet. The quick charging phone outlets are also a nice touch. 4. Room was quiet. Bed was comfy. Shower water was warm, despite #5 above.

The genuine and consistent friendliness of all staff members, house keeping, front desk was noticed by myself and my party. Secondly, the food service was top notch during meetings, room service, lobby venues or at the hotel restaurant. I also hove to mention that the live local artists in the lobby restaurant really give a comfy after hours feel and make this location a wonderful home base to explore Phoenix from. This level of consistency is difficult to achieve, much less maintain, and is much appreciated. So, kudos to management.

Attended a conference in March 2026. Having been to many Hyatt Regency hotels before, this was as expected - efficient staff, decent on-site restaurant, housekeeping is average, rooms could be cleaner. The pool was lacking personality, not a place to relax, felt like a concrete jungle, the water was overly chlorinated, felt like a public swimming pool. Be prepared to wait for the elevators to arrive, and it stops at every floor on the way down.

Super minor items: weak shower head and some UBS ports didn’t work.

This is a Hyatt regency, but certainly not in the condition one would think. It's in need of a major refresh. Food is limited, not enough staff, a lot of it is microwaved.

The room was beautiful as were the conference rooms. They attended to all of our hospitality needs and cared for us like family. Ruben is a very attentive Property Guest Manager who goes above and beyond with his care of guests. Thank you again for your attention.
