Villa Maiara

This is my 3rd visit to Bali so I already lived in a lot of 4 and 5 stars hotels. Usually I do not write long reviews, but after having read a lot of negative comments I would like to give you some more details: VIEW & POOL - fantastic you have the same view like in “the Ungansan ” which is on the opposite side of the small valley but there you pay 600 or 1000 USD per night. WIFI: always worked perfect MONKEYS: yes there are some monkeys but they are funny and not aggressive, this is a wildlife area you have monkeys everywhere even in the expensive 5 star hotels BREAKFAST you can choose between classic version with eggs any style, they come with a mix of sauteed vegetables, toast Marmelade Butter and juice and a very nice big freshly made fruit platter or alternative is Indonesian style fried rice or noodles… quality was good and fresh made so what do you want more for 6 USD For the villa has only 5 rooms you can not expect a breakfast buffet like in the Ritz Carlton STAFF: is super nice and super helpful… if you need anything just tell them they will organise for you. In the first night there was loud noise from the fan of the air conditioning, after one day the installed a complete new compressor and the noise was gone… …when you sleep at night you can hear the waves from the sea which is very relaxing. Villa Manager “ I Wayan” is a very smart and helpful guy, he organised local fruit etc etc for me. Housekeeping and concierge desk are very polite as well, if you need anything from fresh towels to a new blanket just tell them THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT SERVICE !!! And in the end the villa is not new but everything was absolutely clean, they already made some renovations the rooms are in a good shape, I never had animals like spiders ants or anything else in the room. I stayed 5 days and for the location is so nice I extended my stay for 2 more nights ….

Little bit in the middle of nowhere but just 10 minutes ride away to super nice locations like Sundays beach Club or one eighty beach club ( both a must visit) Just download the GOJEK app ( Indonesian UBER) and you easily go around for a handful of dollars

Beautiful property ,excellent location next to Karma / Sundays Beach.The property comes with extra bonus little monkeys in the morning☺️.Just keep your doors closed and it’s absolutely fine.The team is amazing .Can’t wait to go back! For me it’s 10/10 .

Need to update some areas but it’s value for money.

My recent stay at the Ocean King Master Room left much to be desired, largely due to a rather unfortunate incident that occurred on my very first day. While the property itself had some stunning features, the management's handling of an unexpected monkey invasion marred my overall experience. Upon arrival, I was immediately impressed by the room's aesthetic and the breathtaking ocean views. However, the experience took a drastic turn when a group of local monkeys managed to infiltrate my room. They not only created a chaotic mess but also destroyed and consumed my medication and supplements. They even rummaged through my bags, pulling out clothes and leaving them scattered around. The most disappointing aspect of this incident was the complete lack of warning from the hotel staff regarding the local monkey population. I was never informed that these animals could break into my room at any time or that they might use the personal pool for swimming and defecation. This lack of communication was a significant oversight on the part of the staff, as it could have prevented the incident entirely. Prior to the monkey intrusion, the staff's presence was minimal, and their attentiveness left much to be desired. It was only after the incident that they began to show any genuine concern. Unfortunately, their efforts to rectify the situation were also subpar. They made only a feeble attempt to replace the medication and supplements that were destroyed, leaving me to deal with the inconvenience of sourcing replacements myself. In summary, my stay at the Ocean King Master Room was marred by an incident that could have been avoided with better communication from the hotel staff. While the property itself had the potential to offer a memorable experience, the lack of proactive measures and the insufficient response to the monkey intrusion left me disappointed.

The view however was not allowed to access lower level

No security! Location not very good - to get out and about. MONKEYS are very aggressive and a constant problem due to lack of security… English language not understood properly and very limited. We left one night early due to these problems.

Very nice view but thats almost it. After complaining about our room not being clean, we got a „better“ room for one night. Afterwards we had to move back in the old room.

The room was very unclean, run down and not comfy at all. There were some monkeys drinking from the pool and the road to the villa is very bad. We did not want to stay the last night there because it was too run down and dirty. After asking the host for letting us leave earlier and got some money back, he lied to us about booking.com not letting him do this (a honest „no“ would be better). After being lied to we just left and booked another place in Kuta. Seemed to be nice here when it was built 2018 or so but afterwards nobody tried to keep this place in a good shape. We will never come back again and can’t recommend this place to anyone. For this money just stay in Kuta and do one day trip to Uluwatu or Dua Nusa.

The view of the sea from our room and our little terrace was everything! We also loved the swimming pool, the friendliness of the staff, the large dimensions of our room and the offer in the minibar, with standard prices for coke, water and beer. The bed was very comfortable, too.

The location is not ideal as it is far from the heart of Uluwatu and some of its beaches, but you can easily use Grab to go wherever you prefer (I recommend Melasti beach, 10 minutes ride with Grab) and to order food as well. Alternatively, you can go to the restaurant of the nearby hotel Karma Resorts, it serves delicious food in "haute cuisine" standards (and prices). Just be aware that the monkeys are the inhabitants of the surrounding area so they can come and drink some water from the pool or even steal/play with your belongings if left outside! My boyfriend left his shoes drying in the terrace and in the morning he found only one of them! Luckily the cleaning lady was able to find the missing one and keep it aside so that my bf could take it back. Don't bother them and keep all your belongings and clothes inside (and lock your doors) so you will have an undisturbed staying in this villa.
