Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva

The Hotel is in a fantastic location facing the lake. The food and drinks are very good and the hotel is very clean. The beach bar was on day 1 a great place to eat and relax especially as it was 33 degrees. However on Saturday Day2 this was closed as was the main lounge and bar area, leaving us no place to relax and enjoy a cocktail. This was due to a staff event being held in the hotel. As this was not relayed to us we felt that we could not enjoy the facilities as advertised which was the reason for picking a prestigious hotel with a great view. The staff were very abrupt when we questioned this and dismissed us very quickly. We eventually went to the Hotel next to ours for drinks in their bar.

I always book 1day early for early morning check-in but was told my reservation was cancelled because I did not show up without contacting the hotel. Not sure that is fair since we book indirectly with hotels. Com...

I received a room that overlooked the pool. The music was going strong until 8 in the evening. Th room also had a connecting door. When the neighbors decided to put their TV on at 6am, I could hear everything in that room. The insulation is not impressive at all.

Poor view. Very expensive to upgrade for view. $30 to make a local phone call. Weird crowd in lobby. Everything very expensive. Location very good. Old building, low ceiling lobby. Poor infrastructure, carpeting etc. coffee cold in room service.

Our reservation at the Kempinski Hotel was one of several during a three-week trip to France, Switzerland, and Tunisia, starting from Boston and returning to Boston. One week before departure, my wife was in an accident requiring surgery and doctor's supervision for at least three weeks. As a result, we had to cancel our trip (all hotel reservations and airline reservations). All hotels honored the doctor's letter explaining my wife's situation and gave us a full refund of the prepaid amounts-- except for the Kempinski Hotel, which insisted that 'non-refundable' was part of our agreement when we first made the booking.

Truly wonderful. Three blocks from train, walk to hotel from train, magnificent swimming pool and deck, bring your bathing suit, so clean and fresh, fabulous restaurant to sit and look out at gorgeous view, (but pricey) happy helpful staff, perfect air quality control, nice and cool air for sleeping, choice of pillows. Wonderful place! I went everyday to the pool and felt so good!
