El Cozumeleño Beach Resort - All Inclusive

This is the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever been to. 1. The “shower” blew an O ring and we can’t use it. 2. The pools and hot tubs are COLD!! Maybe 67° at BEST and the hot tubs is GREEN!!! 3. The food is eaten and pooped on by birds all day 4. The food doesn’t even taste good in the first place and I chipped a tooth on the NACHOS?! 5. The rooms smell like mold as soon as you walk in 6. They don’t stick to conversion rates for currency. Was told that the conversion rate is $1 USD = 20 MXN at the excursion desk, $1 USD = 19 MXN at the front counter and then $1 USD = 18 MXN in the gift shop. That’s not how money works. They tried to charge us 200 MXN extra per person when converting from USD to MXN Pesos. 7. The beds are NOT comfortable, if you have back problems bring pain killers 8. We’ve been woken up by staff hammering and drilling from 8 - 9:30 AM 9. The bars, room service and food all end at 11pm, you cannot order anything besides beer after 10:30. The pool closes at 10pm as well, if you can even tolerate the temp 10. If you ask for anything at the front counter you better stretch your legs to jump through all their hoops and the you still won’t be able to get a SHOWER TOWEL while covered in mud from another excursion. 11. There was mud in my boyfriend’s salad and the cups are “washed” but dipping it in soapy water and swishing around. You’re lucky if they dump it all back out 12. No one is on the same page, we asked about room service and one person said they don’t do that, the sign says they do and another employee says they do. Good luck getting anything. The food takes forever anyway and we had to go get our own drink from the bar while eating in La Varde (their “fancy” restaurant). We couldn’t even get a table to fit the entire group 13. They keep their red wine cold and serve it cold. The ocean is pretty tho. But that’s surrounds the entire island. Overall, this place is NOT sanitary, comfortable or worth the money. Can’t even use majority of the resort properly.

I am going to write this quickly. So here are some low lights. 1. We were “allowed” 2 bottles of water per day for my wife and I. 2. We had some sort of possibly water bug in the shower. Like very small crawling things. Fairly sure they were of no harm, however, not desirable. 3. The whole hotel needed renovation 10 yrs ago. Everything worked in our room but simply was old. 4. I had a pizza that was very edible, watermelon that I enjoyed, I can’t think of any other food that I didn’t consider somewhat gross. We decided since we saved $ on the hotel, we would just eat out mostly. 5. Nice beach. They had a worker raking the seaweed and actually did a good job there. 6. The AC stayed on 24/7 and was fine. However there is no chance it would have kept up if temps were higher. 7. I feel this would be a decent teenage spring break hotel but not a family hotel.

The resort is lovely for the price. Loved snorkeling. Food is fine. Repetitive but it will sustain you. We are not picky people. Omar is a great bartender, but most staff is friendly. Checking in took too long, seemed like we we're being ignored. A little eye contact and an "I'll be with you in a moment" would have gone a long way. The person who finally checked us in was nice, but everyone else seemed to be avoiding working.

Great service and the people were very friendly. Rooms need updating. Showers and pools need heat. The snorkeling straight off the beaches was absolutely amazing! Overall the cleanliness of the resort was good.

Service is spectacular. Cesar, Leo, and Hugo made our trip the best. Hotel needs updates but the view and location is amazing. So worth it….

Amazing stay. Clean beaches, great assortment of food and lovely staff. Recommend for a cheaper stay, it’s exactly what we needed :)

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here 9 years ago! We went back for our 9th anniversary! What a disappointment. Pool bar was closed all week. We made reservations for restaurant and when we went it was closed for the day. There were some games during the day by the pool which was the highlight of the vacation. No entertainment at night! They said they stopped at covid and never brought it back! They have a menu you can download but everything we asked for they were not doing that day! The only thing to do was sit by pool and drink or go into town. There was mold in the bathroom...wear shoes in shower if you plan to go! Rooms are in desperate need of updating! I do not recommend staying here! We will not be back. Oh, by the way, my brother-in-law and his wife came down to meet us and ended up leaving a day early! They were also disappointed!

I was here for a day pass so I can only review the food, pool and service. It was fantastic! Uncrowded and plenty of chairs around the pool that were open. Waiters were constanly bringing us food and drinks. Pools were nice, one with a nice swim up bar. Beautiful beach. Big enough to be interesting, not so big to be crowded. We were treated so well. I didn't want to go back to the cruise ship! My daughters and I decided right there and then we are skipping the cruise next year, and are doing a week at El Cozumeleno instead !

Great experience. We were there for a week with our adult kids. The waitress/ waiter staff is outstanding. Huge shout out to Emmanuel and Hugo Always very pleasant and always asking if you want another drink or food at the pool and the beach. Very attentive! Very clean and friendly resort. Rooms are a little dated but overall no complaints. Snorkeling is great right at the beach at the hotel Would recommend this hotel We had so much fun.

We love El Coz. They have made some noticeable improvements such as pool improvement. You can not beat the beach here.
