Comfort Inn Syosset-Long Island I’m volunteering at the Ryder Cup in September and booked a room back in October. In January I received an email saying my reservation was cancelled, which I didn’t do. I contacted Raj the General Manager and basically he cancelled it because the rates have increased and he didn’t like the rate I locked in at in Oct. At first he said he doesn’t have any rooms on the dates and then told me to book at the new rate, which is $3500 more than my original booking. He also lied and said corporate told him to cancel. He basically said he didn’t care about my situation and he wasn’t going to do anything about it and then hung up on me. I called customer care and they said this shouldn’t have happened, but they can’t override the general manager. They also said no corporate didn’t direct this action and yes he lied to me. They said they would investigate the property, but I don’t think anything will happen. As far as I’m concerned I won’t stay at another choice hotel chain.

Staff super nice!

No HOT water. Very disappointed Not real pillows. Pillow cases packed with something. Maybe other pillow cases. Four in the room and hard as a rock.

The Good - Carpets and bathroom were clean. - The room (we had a suite) was spacious and easily fit five people. - The elevators were fast. - The location is very convenient to 495, Roosevelt Field, and most of Long Island. - The price was well below other hotels in the area. The Bad - I had pre-booked and pre-paid for our stay before arriving. When checking in, the representative asked me to swipe my credit card, which I assumed was for a typical security deposit. However, the amount displayed on the credit card machine was the total cost of our stay, and so I asked what was going on. They claimed that we hadn't prepaid for our stay. After some back and forth and calling over another colleague, they "found" our payment. This could be an honest mistake, but if you read other reviews, it happens a little too frequently. Be sure to check before swiping your credit card! - There was no hot water in the room. The shower temperature ranged from freezing to lukewarm. This was every day, every time over a five-day stay, so it wasn't an intermittent problem. It was rough. - The heating/ac unit took a long time to heat up the room. Eventually, it did get comfortable. - The ceiling has really bad and noticeable water stains. - There is inadequate parking. Be prepared to park on the street and walk a couple of blocks. Not a big deal, but not ideal when lugging a lot of gear and suitcases. - There are a ton of shady folks hanging around inside and outside the property. I understand that the hotel hosts guests for social services, which is admirable, but there were people drinking on the steps, one lost and obviously strung out guy wandering the hallway, and folks sitting around the parking lot.

It's ok for one night stay

Pros-close to the hockey rink Cons-Once you get on elevator and step off on floor, carpet was filthy and stunk like straight weed. -Lots of indigents. Sketchy looking folk coming in and out at all hours. -Not many parking spaces -Breakfast was disgusting. -This place is sketchy. It's OK if absolutely necessary.

Room was uncomfortably small for 2 people.

This hotel is much more dated than it appears in the pictures online. There is a strange smell in the hallways and our bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke. Thankfully the front desk gave us a new room and were quick to apologize about it. The rooms are very small, beds could be more comfortable, and towels are scratchy. The water temperature in the shower quickly ran out of hot water, it didn’t even stay hot for a quick 5 minute shower. If you can, I would pay a little more and stay somewhere nicer.
