Having a bath

The creaking floorboards above me at 3.30am and TV on above me at the same time so very poor sleep.and cleaning could have been better.

Not being able to stand up straight in the shower. Only 5ft of headroom

the most important - very clean place, carpet was clean, room was not smelly, big bathroom, car park for free as a guest, very helpful stuff, good internet (free)

little downsize is that there is no toiletries (soap only) - I was not bother but you will hear trains and cars

Very noisy, due to location next to railway line , room 6 very small and the plumbing needs updating

Cold water tap in room was hot Waste paper bin had not been emptied from last rental. Breakfast very limited

I had room only. I have stayed there before and the room was clean and met all my expectations. I did not require breakfast. The staff were very helpful and the carpark was close to the room. No complaints at all.

I could not fault my stay, I will be happy to stay there again should I need to. I will certainly recommend The Swan

We booked this stay for two rooms: We were allocated Room 2 and Room 6 On our arrival we waited at the empty unattended bar for some time for someone to arrive to check us in. This was booked for us to attend my mothers funeral on the 6th October so we were keen to have a no fuss stay with time to get ready as a family in the morning. The toilet in room 6 was not working as the cistern did not fill. We had to use the shower attachment to fill the cistern. We were told that this was a known problem with the plumbing for the building. The showers were working intermittently with the water cutting off altogether. Meaning that members of our family had to utilise different bathrooms as they were not available in all areas. We were asked to book a time for breakfast between 7am and 9am. We booked for 8am the next morning so as to be able to get ready in time for the funeral. A significant event in our lives. We arrived at the pub / restaurant at 8am to find no-one present. We waited for 20-30mins for someone to arrive and no one did. We called the number listed on a paper on the front door as an emergency number. After the third try someone answered and said they would be down in 5 minutes. This person arrived after around 10 minutes and let us in to prepare breakfast which took some time to be ready. I found this experience distressing and made the day of the funeral more complex than it needed to be. We received no apology when highlighting these issues which would have gone a long way in helping with alleviating concerns. Only explanations given that there was a known problem with plumbing. We asked for compensation / refund but were just provided with a card to contact Marston's pubs.
