The Jolly Sailor

Probably one of most disgusting hotels I have ever stayed in, the floor was wet, the roof leaked and the stench from all the damp was almost unbearable.

this property was disgusting the ceiling was mouldy and was caving in, the sofas were ripped, the carpet was dirty, the kettle was rusting very badly i thinknit would have actually been dangerous to use the bathroom sinks all had holes in all the walls also had holes in horrible experience wouldn’t recommend or come back

on arrival at the hotel, there was no clear signage on how to enter. I rang them and the bar staff let me in the emergency exit, where the manager sat at a table. I was taken to my first room, room 9 after walking up 3 flights of stairs. The room looked nothing like the photos, with mouldy windowsills & a shared bathroom with broken light. I spoke to the manager who allowed me another room for £10 extra per night. The next room was worse. Although it had an ensuite...the window was broken and decayed, it wouldn't shut, the carpet was full of mould, the desk was stained, the curtains were mouldy, crumbs were everywhere and the ceiling was crumbling. I didn't want to make too much of a fuss so for the night I stayed in a friend's room a 30 minute walk away. I came back this morning and decided it just wasn't okay or hygienic for a second night.I came down and asked to speak with the manager. Upon his arrival, he refused to look at my photos, refused to speak or compensate me. He just repeatedly said sorry I have to go. He said he would be back in 2 hours to have the conversation - 5 hours passed, he did not return and hid away instead. I'd like to point out that the bar staff, particularly Ash & Nat were incredible. They were so apologetic + compassionate. From the state of the rooms, this is definitely not the first time they've had to deal with complaints, despite it not being their fault n instead the fault of a manager who who is in over his head and is struggling to run it

Stayed here before and would happily stay again. Reason for staying is, because it’s cheap to stay , in a convenient location, has what you need a bed which is clean and comfortable. Room has a nice view to wake up to .

Place and atmosphere were excellent. Close to the sea and stopping.

Nice and reasonably priced , good size room and ensuite . Staff are friendly . Property a little tired , but if you reflect this into the price , you can't go wrong

Just a great place. Liked the put food and drink as well. Stayed on top floor. No noise and very clean and tidy rooms despite building seeming quite old. Definitely surprised for spending not a lot of money.

Every easy to find ams staff every friendly and happy to help with anything.

Should be shut down and condemned, avoid at all costs, the worst hotel rooms ever, disgusting.

Firstly there was no one to check us in at the appointed check in time. So had to wait around for three and half hours. Floors were uneven and carpeting was marked and damaged. The room was just ok, however the adjacent rooms were occupied and you could here every word spoken and the volume of the tv was annoying. In the morning there was no breakfast and no one available to explain why this was the case. Will never recommend this b&b in fact will probably write a complaint to enquire about the possibility of a full refund. Never have I been treated like this in any of the B&B s I have stayed in. I rate it as the most negative experience ever in accommodation.
