Sundial Beach Resort & Spa

We purchased the Sundial's Daycation offer. This is a one day pass to the resort, which is right on the beach, use of their pool, plus $60 voucher for food/drink at their outdoor restaurant. Sanibel Island was hit directly by Hurricane Ian two years ago. There was significant damage to many properties. A lot has been restored. There is still evidence of hurricane damage, but there are many absolutely beautiful areas as well - like Sundial. We headed to the beach first, which is right on the property. We had the use of lounge chairs and beach umbrella which the staff happily set up for us. The beach is gorgeous. It was a stunning, warm, sunny day when we visited. The water was calm, lots of shells along the beach, few people. Just beautiful. After a couple of hours, we headed back to the resort Tiki Bar/restaurant. We ordered a mango daiquiri, chicken wrap, chicken sandwich, couscous sides and soda for our $60 voucher. All was delicious. The daiquiri was strong, the food was nice sized portions, all served promptly. Next was a dip in the pool. Well, it is a huge, beautiful pool but the temperature was probably close to 100 degrees. I'm not sure what was going on, nor why the temperature would be that hot. Sadly, you couldn't swim in it. Those that did venture into the water basically walked in for a few minutes and got out. It was hot tub warm. With air temperature in the 80s, the pool was too warm to enjoy. Bummer. The gulf was too cold to swim in and the pool too warm. But we still enjoyed lounging poolside. We went back out to the beach a while later to do some shelling. We sat down about 4:00 and that's when the no-see-ums hit. OMG! No-see-ums are tiny gnat like bugs that bite. They love human blood. Later were learned that Sanibel has had a HUGE no-see-um infestation. We had to leave the beach. We jumped in the pool just to get away from the bugs, but they were relentless, even poolside. We had to leave the resort and get inside. We got literally 100s of tiny bites. The severe itching started several hours later (trip to Walgreens for anti-itch cream, and antihistamine was only mildly helpful). Of course, the no-see-ums are not the resorts fault, but we do wish we knew before we got bit. Maybe offering bug repellent or some warning would have been appreciated. Bottom line, the resort has done a wonderful job rebuilding after the hurricane. The main building is great, the pool would be great if it were not so warm, the beach is amazing, the property is lovely. The daycation is a good tool to get folks to come to the resort. The condos on the property are still be rebuilt. But those bugs were awful. My feelings are mixed - parts of our day were amazing, and parts were not so good.

Nice hotel

We had a wonderful stay at the Sundial resort. Beautiful accomdations and service. So nice to have chairs and umbrella's set up on the beach. Friendly staff and very clean. We will be back after they recover from hurricane IAN. Prayers for the staff and families.

Lovely location on the Gulf. Beautifully kept grounds. Pleasant activities available. Easy access to restaurants and Island amenities. With one exception, the staff and service was courteous and attentive. Don't miss a visit to CROW (Center for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife) and the TARBON BAY evening excursion.

Went with two families. Rented two of the grande three bedroom partial gulf view. Rooms were very big and Very CLEAN. We could have fit 8 of us in the one three bedroom condo. Full kitchen beach was less than a 100 yards or a sand wedge away. Shell hunting is fun…never seen so many shells in my life. Definitely a special place. Small waves but out kids still loved it and stayed in water all day. Bring a ball/football to toss. Kids ages 14,13,12,11.

My ONLY complaint was that our bed was not too comfortable. But we are pretty picky about that. Everything else is simply outstanding! Above and beyond! We really loved our visit here and will definitely be back for a family trip!

Excellent. We had a great time, a very quiet and relaxing place to state, we really liked riding bikes and kayaking, everyone's attention was very good. We will definitely go back. We really enjoyed it!!

Liked: swimming pools, beach, free kayaks and bikes, tiki bar Disliked: some of the music played at the main pool. More easy listening rock and beach music would be nice. No techno rock.

First time in Sanibel, very nice resort has a few pools but only one with bar/restaurant. Right on the beach would be nice to have two showers when you get off the beach as only having one you have to wait sometimes to rinse off. Clean comfortable room with full kitchen. Would stay again

Together with my wife we spent a nice weekend at this resort. The location is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable and well equipped, the Frontdesk and tiki bar service was excellent and in general, except for a couple of people, all the hotel staff always gave us a very good service. I do not give the resort 5 stars, because they have a lot to improve in terms of cleanliness of the rooms. Ours was very dusty and hairy all over the floor and in the furniture drawers.
