"Unsafe Conditions, Unhelpful Staff, & a Disappointing Stay"

2.0

This was not the Disney hotel experience we hoped for. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel with our 2-year-old and 7-month-old and faced issue after issue. • Our first room’s toilet sprayed water from the base of toilet water reservoir—our toddler was hit with it after flushing and needed another bath. • When we reported it, management told us there were no other rooms and maintenance had to verify it first. We lost park time waiting. • Maintenance didn’t fix the problem. The toilet sprayed again. • Around midnight, we were moved to a new room that smelled heavily of cigarette smoke and had a leaky bathtub. • We asked for help again and were told no other rooms were available. But when we asked about upgrading, suddenly a suite was available—for $350 extra. • The next morning, we were asked to pack again for a third room change. With two small kids and breastfeeding needs, this was not realistic. Only after pleading were we allowed to stay in the cigarettes odorous room until the next one was ready. We received a partial refund, but the stay was exhausting and extremely stressful. No family should have to endure this, especially at a Disney property.

"It really is THE Disneyland Hotel"

10.0

We had a fantastic stay at the Disneyland Hotel. The theming is excellent, and everything has a wow factor, especially if you love Mid Century Modern architecture and style. Walking the grounds to see the different decor and exhibits and each tower was so much fun. It is themed to Disneyland Theme park, so expect to hear park music throughout the resort. I absolutely loved the attention to detail. The commitment to the theme really pays off. It really made it feel like we were always at Disneyland, in a good way! We stayed for 4 nights at the Adventureland tower in a standard room, and it was wonderful. There was plenty of room for our party (three adults) and we never felt crowded when getting ready to go to the parks or relaxing in the room. Our room had two queen beds and they were comfortable for everyone in our party, including a taller guest who sometimes has challenges with bed lengths. The only drawbacks we faced were low lighting, and lack of ventilation in the bathrooms which did make the room feel a little humid when our party used the shower.
We did get to use the pools during our stay and really enjoyed them. You have access to all pools, including the pool attached to the Vacation Club tower. It was nice to get lots of options. It can get pretty full so finding a lounger quickly paid off. The restaurants on site were convenient too, with fun treats like Dole Whip available. We were only offered poolside meal and drink service once during our three trips to the pool, so that was disappointing. It was easy enough to get to Tangaroa Terrace for snacks and drinks. There was also live music at the restaurants most evenings and near the Frontierland tower entrance some evenings. The location for access to Disneyland is great. It’s true that it's not the closest hotel, but we often used the Monorail at the end of the night at Disneyland and that saved a lot of time and cut down the walking distances. I also find that the walk through Downtown Disney is more pleasant than the walk from other hotels outside the park. Getting to California Adventure took longer as you need to go to the main entrance to exit and enter. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I hesitated when I initially booked because the price is higher than most other hotels in the area but I am so glad we went for it. The atmosphere, the theming, and the outstanding service makes it well worth it.

"You will feel like Royalty"

10.0

The staff were fantastic. I felt like Royalty on arrival, the attention to detail is fantastic. We arrived before check-in and they Bell-hops unloaded the car and put our bags on a trolley so we could go to the Disneyland park as soon as possible. Then they brought the bags to our room, which was spacious and immaculate. We had early access to Disneyland and everything at the hotel surpassed our expectations. On departure the Bell-hops gave us bottles of cold water for the trip to the airport. Last time that happened, I was checking out of a Fairmont!

"Family-moon Vacation stay!"

8.0

Fantastic accommodations, super close to the park. A very short walk to the monorail station! Our room was a bit dirty, crumbs and plastic utensil under the furniture. Our phone didn’t work upon arrival and finally fixed the day before we left. Stayed for five nights, four days and decided next time we’ll stay at the Pixar place or Grand Californian hotel.

"Loud"

4.0

So yes, the headboard is magical… but I would not stay again. Last night I got back from a full day in the parks ready to sleep. However they were playing Moana right outside, blasting into the rooms with loudspeakers. I called the front desk to se if they could turn it down and they suggested I could wear earplugs! (Too loud for that to even help.) So I had to just lay there for an hour, exhausted, waiting for the movie to end. You can see from the mixed reviews that this hotel has issues- I would recommend just staying across the street at a better managed hotel as it is just as close. The wait for the monorail to the parks was 30 minutes the whole time so that wasn’t useful either.

"Exceptional"

10.0

This was our family's first trip to Disneyland and we loved staying at this hotel. It was totally worth it for us with very small kids to stay close to the park so we could go back for naps. And, the added benefit of entering the park early to hit some of the busy rides before the crowds started was also a very big plus!! The pool was awesome! Loved that they provide like jackets for kids. The staff was super helpful offering to get us milk for the kids at 11 pm after a long flight, making this is a lovely experience for parents. We will definitely be back!

"Very loud live music late in downtown Disney! Bad!!"

2.0

Loud live band in downtown Disney will ruin your sleep. It’s the worst. These live bands play late at night and it hits 2 hotel towers with so much noise past 10pm at night. We want to sleep!! Really bad design and they did not think about hotel guests at all

"Overpriced for what you get"

6.0

Disneyland Hotel is fine. It's a nice hotel, the beds are comfortable, the bathroom updated. But, the same can be said of dozens of hotels near Disneyland that are much cheaper. A few notes, comparing Disneyland Hotel to an unnamed hotel across the street: * The toilet paper is about the same. But, at DH,for the price, I'd expect higher quality toilet paper. They use the cheap tissue. * Free breakfast. Even the hotels across the street, for hundreds less, have free hot breakfast. At DH, it's $65 for breakfast buffet. * Birthday celebrations. Across the street, the hotel staff was so nice, hanging a birthday banner in our room, leaving sparkling cider, a card and even a small gift. Decorating a room at DH? $250 to start. * Walking distance - honestly, the hotels directly across the street are a bit closer. And, you don't have to walk through the absolute zoo that is Downtown Disney. Sure, I suppose if you have kids and want characters at your breakfast. Or, are there one of the few days they actually do early entry to the parks, maybe it's worth it. But, you can get just as good a room, and better toilet paper, across the road.

"Worst Coffee provided by Expensive Hotel"

4.0

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which was dated but ok. So disappointed that the coffee offered inside the rooms were HORRIBLE. It tasted like wood bark with soil. Why couldn't they provide decent coffee packets in the rooms for the price they charge? Not staying there again.

"Not worth the money"

4.0

We paid a good amount for our room and was excited about staying on property because of the short distance to the park and early entry but the Disneyland Hotel feels very outdated. There wasnt a magical feel to our stay. The rooms are dark and old. The front desk didnt even have a bandaid when we asked for one. The laundry room is also at the back of the hotel which is quiet a walk from the front desk. I could not pay to stay here again, I shouldve paid more to stay at the grand california.
