Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria

This was the beginning to our Italy travels and we were warmly welcomed. Everything about this Grand Hotel was 5 stars. It is in the town center, surrounded by shopping and restaurants is what we liked the most. They have an elevator that provides easy access to the port below, so no crazy stairs to climb up and down. Ferry services to other locations were easy. I wouldn't go anyplace else if I return in the future.

We had lunch at the Terrazzo Restaurant at the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel for a birthday celebration. It was a hot day but we were seated on the terrace which was beautifully cool with an amazing view of the bay and Mount Vesuvius. The staff were all friendly, discrete, welcoming and the customer service was excellent. The restaurant manager was very personable and knowledgeable explaining how many of the ingredients in the dishes in the menu were grown in the hotel garden. The food was absolutely delicious and the attention to detail was first class. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were made to feel very special, thank you.

We have been visiting Sorrento for many years, and calling at the Excelsior for aperitivo on the terrace has always been great. However, this year we were asked to register our full details at the desk. When asked why they needed my name, phone number, and email address for a drink, I was told this was 'required for their database'. Would they perhaps have liked my credit card and ID as well before serving me a drink? Why was this necessary? It was more than we were prepared to give away for no reason, so went went elsewhere. As returning customers who have even taken friends there previously, very disappointing, and we won't be back while this requirement is in place. I am not happy that businesses just assume they should have access to my personal details.

What a great dining experience this was on the outside Terrace overlooking the bay of Naples. The food, although very pricy, is worth every penny. It is delicious, served by professional staff (I have only praise); the location and views are breathtaking. It will blow you away; it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will NOT regret. It is First Class all around. Please see my Photos. They speak for themselves. This deluxe Resort is located right on the Main Square. At the Entrance, you will be greeted by a Hostess. She will take you to the office to fill out a form ( they really want to know who you are - all about security) . You walk through beautifully manicured gardens to reach the Resort / Restaurants, located on a cliff. Another Hostess will greet you and walk with you to the outside Terrace, where you will enjoy delicious food and great views. I salute the staff working here; they are outstanding and very accommodating. Keep up the good work.

Excellent experience from arrival to departure. The best food and staff on the Amalfi Coast. Easy access to all Ferries for day trips along the coast, Capri, and Ischia

Very BAD experience I visited with a friend this evening. I asked the waiter what tequila was used in the margaritas- he said maybe one of three types- I said please use the best of the three. Cocktail wasn’t good - tequila used was nasty. They charged double the listed price €30 not €16. I complained politely and they offered a shot of the tequila they said was used in the cocktails (it wasn’t), and said that they were complimentary but when checking, they had charged to our account. €60 for two less than average margaritas listed at €16 each was not fair or right. It should be illegal to charge for an expensive spirit which is not actually used. Bad hotel practices ! Manager disagreed also with our feedback that the standard tequila had been used over the top shelf, even though we never asked for top shelf!! Staff made derogatory and rude comments upon discussion of the issue. Upsells without confirmation or even giving the product to the customer is STEALING ! Disgraceful
