Located very close to everything

Given the reviews, I was expecting a total disaster. Not true. Hotel is dated and overpriced but a perfect location for a night before a cruise and we found front desk staff to be present and accommodating. Good shower, comfortable bed, and relatively clean.

Rude front desk clerks, unfriendly, unhelpful and just plain downright the worst. Customer service unheard of, On a power trip and disrespectful of Marriott Platinum Elite guests. Would never stay there because of bad attitudes and acting like guests don’t matter. No management in the building

Very convenient to cruise port

Unfortunately we had a terrible stay here and only stayed 2 of our 4 booked nights. They were undergoing incredibly noisy renovations which started at 7am and went of most of the day. They are also incredibly understaffed with the general manager working front desk at all hours. After the second day of drilling we came down at 7am (along with several other guests) to ask if the drilling could stop we were told it was a 3rd party contractor and there was nothing they could do. After being told we had been made aware of this at check in (which we hadn't) we were finally offered to move to another hotel. We were then charged for the remaining 2 nights at the new hotel and have been struggling to get money back from the Sheraton but have eventually been offered credit on Hotels.com.

It was an absolute disgrace! Shouldn't even be open as a hotel let alone posing as a Marriott. We were ridiculously overcharged and couldn't even use our Wise cards to pay, which we had loaded with US dollars. Consequently, in addition to the disgusting charge of AU$850 per night, there was an extra almost $50 exchange rate on the American Express card. On the night we were staying, the advertised price for the hotel was a third of what we paid, but they would not listen to us when we tried to negotiate. It's the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in and one of the worst. My room had a large section of the ceiling cut out opening into the space above. The breakfast was utterly disgusting – costing nearly AU$40 per head. There was nothing but prepackaged bread and pastries dreadfully overcooked bacon and something supposed to be an omelette. There were only paper plates and plastic cutlery. There was no Restaurant open (which was probably a good thing!) And no Bar. Apparently the Hotel doesn't even have a liquor license. If there is anything at all that Booking.com can do to get back some of our money it would be much appreciated as we feel so totally ripped off. I would highly recommend that booking.com no longer represent this Hotel as it is bad for your reputation.

Unfortunately the hotel was under renovation-scheduled to be complete by May 1-it was still underway on May 9-10. Hammer drilling commenced at 7:20 AM and continued for 12 hours!! We were given some compensation after we spoke with the staff, but MOST unfortunate for us -as we hoped to rest after a long travel day.

Be aware that this hotel is UNDER CONSTRUCTION, and the front desk manager claims Marriott policy doesn't allow that kind of notification for guests when booking. So here is your official notification. Here's what my May, 2025 stay featured: --Beds, linens, hotel room safes, and random furniture stacked up along the hallways by my room --NO HEAT during temps in the 30s. Eventually somebody delivered a space heater. --Loud constant DRILLING noises making sleeping, phone calls, zoom meetings, and just relaxing completely impossible. It starts at 8:00 AM and goes until 7:00 PM. --NO CABLE-- Just a Samsung app on the TV that offers old reruns of game shows. No cable news, no local channels, no live sports. When I inquired about this, I was told there had been a contract disagreement with DirecTV during the (still in progress) remodel. Whatever you do, AVOID this hotel and let Marriott/Bonvoy know what you think about their policy of hiding renovations in progress from prospective guests when they book.

The hotel is still under constructions and there were no rooms available, we were not notified.
