The room was very small with no “extras” like you would expect from a hotel in downtown Chicago. It was clean but the hotel in general is quite run down. It’s extremely dated. I wouldn’t stay here again. The staff was less than friendly.

Water took forever to get hot. Bugs in room. Carpet dirty and if walked barefoot left black film on feet. Towels felt like sandpaper Hard to get in shower due to sliding door/tub design and glass shelf that goes across sink mirror that stretches to shower. Room service left dishes outside door for 3 days and did not pick up. Hotel hallways had odor. Carpet hung on elevator trim was so trashy.

I read from reviews that The Congress Plaza was in an excellent location which I completely agree. They have made room improvements and our rooms were very clean. But two things that need to be improved: the mattresses are too firm, maybe add a soft pillow topper so something. Did not sleep well. The second improvement needed is climate control - all we could do is adjust the fan speed of the unit under the window. There was no way to adjust the temperature.

Great place to stay downtown. Convenient to Grant Park, Millennium Park and the water front. The room was a bit dated but wasn't an issue and we were hardly ever in the room. Will definitely stay again.
