Four Seasons Hotel Montreal

We have been travelling for a couple of weeks across America and Canada. This was the most modern accomodation we have stayed in but done in a very elegant way. The gym facilities have been the best out of all the 5 star hotels we have stayed at. Staff were incredibly helpful.

We booked in for three nights over Christmas and our two adult children also had a room. It was a family celebration. Unfortunately the trouble started as we tried to pull up outside the hotel. There was one spot out front and a bunch of signs saying reserved. We had to drive around the block twice in order to get lucky and find the one space empty. Not a good beginning. Then, the actual lobby is on the third floor!? The street level lobby was beautifully decorated for the holidays but this was not continued in the actual lobby or the restaurant? I was disappointed that there was not more festive decorations. To cap it off, we had asked for early check in but didn't get it, so we had to sit and wait in the restaurant while paying for food we did not really want as we had already had lunch. The room was quite lovely with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a beautiful large bath, but, unfortunately, although the piping hot water flowed from the sink, the bath had only lukewarm water. I asked for a technician, who came and said that all the baths and showers were set to that temperature because people had burned themselves?? I got a call on the hotel phone after he left also confirming this. The manager did say it applied to the shower also but the shower actually gave hot water. This was a problem that we should not have experienced at all. The next day I took a bath and topped it up with kettles of hot water from the tap in the sink to boost the temperature. This was while we were paying over $800 for the night. The restaurant, Marcus, was disappointing as it was very casual and relaxed like a lower cost hotel breakfast place. We had booked Christmas dinner for the next day and asked to see the "festive menu". It was really disappointing. It was actually the ordinary dinner menu with the addition of wildly expensive Wagyu beef and Duck. There were no special desserts and no effort made to recognize Christmas in a culinary way. I will write a separate review of Marcus but suffice to say that the breakfast was equally mediocre and quite costly. I would not be returning to this hotel any time soon. The final problem was a biggie. When we returned home and noticed our credit card charges, we referenced the bill from the hotel and noticed a discrepancy of over $2,000 for the total on the two rooms. We had to phone the hotel and after a long wait while they were "checking" they admitted this was an error. Veronica did apologize as this was for some other guest not our charges at all. We are still waiting for the email from Veronica. She said she would send confirmation of the error and correction. I think the Four Seasons could do better.

We had a truly fantastic stay overall at the Four Seasons Montreal and would certainly recommend it. We booked through Chase The Edit, which included excellent value, such as a $100 CAD breakfast credit (we appreciated that this could be used for room service, which many hotels don't allow) and a $130 CAD credit for food, spa, etc., a room upgrade subject to availability, and a welcome amenity. We received an upgrade from a Premier room to a Premier Carré Doré room. The quality of the accommodations was a huge highlight. As is typical for the brand, the bed was outrageously comfortable, and the shower was heavenly. The room hardware was excellent, and the room itself was exceptionally clean. We found both the breakfast and room service to be good, and any general service requests we made were handled efficiently. I especially want to give credit to Stefan; his service during our stay was of a very high quality and truly stood out. The only drawbacks were minor service details. Our welcome amenity took two days to arrive, even after we were told multiple times (on check-in and the next morning) that it was already in the room and then that it would be delivered that day. Additionally, the turndown service occasionally overlooked small things, such as removing a used espresso cup without replacing it with a fresh one. Despite these minor service lapses, the overall experience was excellent and I would recommend staying here if visiting Montreal.

Our number one hotel choice when it comes to visiting Montreal. Centrally located and walking distance to lots of shopping and restaurants. Hotel is cozy with elegant design. Reception is on the 3rd floor and also connected to the high end shopping store Holt Renfrew. Room was descent size and very well layout. Lavazza coffee machine and also high end toiletries. You can also order more stuff from in room iPad. Gym and indoors heated pool are clean and quiet. Kudos to all the staff, from the lobby attendants to the housekeeper, especially thanks to Nicholas, the Assistance director of rooms who assisted us for the whole stay. Four Seasons Hotel always provides excellent hospitality and products to the guests. And we will definitely choose this one when we come back to Montreal
