"Nice stay in Toraja"

8.0

the breakfast was really good :) the rooms were nice and clean, comfortable. lots of tour options as the host will explain to you. easy 10 minutes scooter into main Rantepao and other stuff nearby.

they were using chainsaws to cut tree stumps right outside my window at 7am and 8am a few mornings in a row. it was...very loud. Also i think a tour is nice but not always necessary to go see stuff yourself. if you're adventurous and curious, i recommend you just go to the funerals at the church (bring some offering of coffee, tea, cigarettes), and nearby swimming hole, small treks, etc.

"Unique experience in Toraja"

10.0

We stayed in Mama Tia for 3 days n 2 nights. The homestay itself is very cozy, had clean bathrooms and confortable bedrooms and shared spaces. Also gives the opportunity of living in a local home with local people, which is far more fullfilling than staying in a regular hotel, specially in a rural area like Toraja. Moreover the views are really nice! The family is so welcoming and helpful, you can order homemade food, laundry service, etc. Special mention to Yansen, who was our main host and guide during our stay. He gives amazing vibes, was always in a good mood, joking and smiling, which we really, really appreciated. He has high level of English, which made communication very fluent. On the guiding aspect he was the best, brought us to some amazing places, giving us the opportunity to inmerse in the local culture specially into the unique funerals. The prices for the homestay, food, and guiding were amazing. Overall made our stay in Toraja arguibly our best time in Indonesia. Would highly recommend to anyone willing to visit the area. Hoping to come back sometime!

"Wonderful stay with beautiful views and kind people"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay. Views around are very beautiful. Very tasty food. Familly owning the homestay is very kind. Yansen took us to see the funeral ceremony and showed us around the town which was very interesting. He speaks very good english and is very knowledgable on the history and culture. Speaking about homestay, the rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable. There was a hot shower. Also bed was very comfortable. We rented a scooter and had a ride around town and surrounding areas, which was very beautiful. 10/10 expierence overall, would definetely recommend and I would love to come back again!

nothing, all was just perfect.

"Mama Tia and their exceptional family made us fall in love with Sulawesi"

10.0

Beautiful views, brilliant website, diligent caring family, always making sure we were okay, going the extra mile from the minute we booked. The cooking class is an absolute must and the laundry service puts other professionals to shame. We’ve got a lot of love for this place.

"Great people, food and surroundings"

10.0

Yakov y Yansen are very nice people. All the staff was polite and welcoming and they 2 are great guides. They showed us torajan traditions and explained everything very clearly. I had the best noodle soup I have ever had in Indonesia. The place is in a rural area surrounded by nature, which makes it very pleasant stay

There is a little constant machine noise in the terrace of the upper floor , a bit annoying when one wishes to listen to nature while having breakfast with the great views. However; this in no way disturbes the peace one feels at mama tia.

"Bit unprofessional"

9.0

Simple yet comfortable accommodation in peaceful settings with comfortable bed. Fantastic daily free breakfast & lovely views over green landscape. Nice seating areas. Cheap delicious meals available & cheap laundry service too. Good value for money for accommodation.

Bathroom drains were full of hair & days of cold showers as hot water system constantly didn’t work. Nearby farm’s roosters woke me up daily at 3am but guess that’s to be expected in rural Indonesia. Need receipts for payments made as owner forgot I’d paid night before etc, seemed v unprofessional plus seemed to be constantly looking for cash & more chances to charge guests.

"I can’t think of a better place to stay in Tana Toraja."

10.0

This was one of the best places I’ve stayed in in my travels, hands down. It is basic, but proof that basic can also be excellent. Jacob & Yansen were fabulous hosts-cum-guides, the food choices were simple but tasty, & the whole atmosphere of the place, including my fellow-guests were wonderfully friendly. So glad I chose this over some place inRantepao proper where I would have felt in the middle of a city. Here we were in the real spirit of Tana Toraja, w Tongan’s a stone’s throw away.

Nothing really.

"3 nice days in mama tia homestay"

9.0

The homestay is very simple, is in a beautiful spot with rice terraces in front of it and it is pleasantly quiet at night... the food is delicious, you can choose from a menu for lunch or dinner... yansen put together a tour for us for 2 days and he is a wonderful tour guide, I learned so much about the culture of the toraja, it was really interesting, pleasant and funny with him... I definitely recommend this homestay and would come back straight away.
