Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin University Area

The staff was super nice and friendly, I was very pleased with how clean and put together the hotel and our room was. I do wish there was a fan of some sort in the workout area. It was hot and the mirrors were fogged up by the time I was done. However I still made it work just fine for working out away from home.

The area around the hotel is under construction so not very pretty. The air conditioner was difficult to moderate and was either too cold or off. However the employees were wonderful and breakfast was good.

This hotel is NOT conveniently located to the University. They should not advertise that, it’s very misleading. Also, the location is in a very shady neighborhood. It’s right next to IH-35 in an area where they are a lot of homeless camps. There was a lot of police presence at night as we watched from our window. You know it isn’t safe when you have to be “buzzed” into the hotel. My kids were terrified! The rooms are very run down and smell like mildew. The furniture is outdated and lack basic toiletries. The AC didn’t cool and the bedsheets were stained. Staff was not welcoming or friendly for that matter. And the management was even worse! They weren’t phased about my complaints of the smell and the cheaply made broken furniture. They never tried to make it right nor did they apologize. In fact, they charged my credit card for that broken dresser a couple weeks later after I told them about it when i checked in. I don’t think the renovations they are undergoing are going to fix the root of their problems!! They need new management. I will never stay at this hotel again!
