"A lovely pub let down by the food."

7.0

We stayed for one night. Our room was lovely. Everything was clean and well presented. The setting was lovely and the staff did their best. Breakfast was superb.

We reserved a table for dinner, outside which was ignored, although we were eventually seated on the terrace. The pub was seriously short-staffed and everyone was run off their feet which detracted from the service. We were delighted with our breakfast but seriously underwhelmed by the dinner menu where there was so little choice and it was all a bit standard pub fare, which we were not expecting. Given the lovely feel of the place, we were expecting more of a gastro pub and it could do with a really good chef with some imagination.

"Lovely setting in quaint village"

8.0

Lovely location next to an old bridge with nicely kept lawn along the river . Plenty of outdoor seating (and they have an outdoor pizza oven which I believe operates at weekends) Nice bedroom with lovely touches (coffee/tea/water/biscuits/juice) Comfortable beds Well appointed generous bathroom Friendly staff

Very good breakfast but slow service (took well over half an hour). Limited diner menu and our fish pie was very dry and not worth £19

"Idyllic location by the Teme"

7.0

The Lion has a beautiful location on the river Teme just where the Clun joins it, and you can enjoy the river from the hotel's beer garden. It is a fine old building which used to be a pub but has been upgraded rather successfully, so a lot of the fittings are genuinely old, which gives a lovely atmosphere. Leintwardine village too is very pretty, and it now has a useful Spar shop at the petrol station. I enjoyed the unusual option of haddock and bacon at breakfast.

£115 for a very small room seems overpriced, but this is not the only place in the area with high prices. I suppose it's what the market will bear in such a lovely and well-visited region.

"Very nice interlude in-between our onward journey."

8.0

Lovely old building with adequate social spaces. Breakfast up to standard though we waited quite a while to be served it. Evening meal was good, prices on a par with most eateries.

Wasn't a dislike but had a problem with our shower control which we addressed to staff who sorted the problem for our stay.
