Hotel Banana Boutique & Spa by Paradise Hotels - 5th Av Playa del Carmen

Ok location, close to restaurants and shopping, No close to the beach. rooms are pretty and clean, bathrooms are old and rustie, there is not door or courtain in in the shower, water goes everywhere, walls in bathroom look like they have been painted over mold , looks very dirty, water pump broke twice and we didn’t have water for hrs . Hotel is next to a club , you won’t be able to sleep or rest at all. They left two complementary bottles of water, the bottles had holes on the top (tiny needle holes ) scary .

Pleasant stay and super staff all around

The hotel is and accommodations are aesthetically pleasing. However, the picture posted is misleading. The pool is the size of a hot tub. There are no hammocks. My room did not have a balcony, just a sliding door that overlooked the pool. The staff was very friendly. The location was a drawback. It was extremely noisy up until 2:30AM, and the noise from the air conditioner did not help. I was able to rest because I was super tired and spent my time outside of the hotel or on tours.

Hotel now known as 5th AVENUE" Banana Boutique Hotel "by BFH" - Room is very old - Door lock is replaced with tissues/napkins to close the hole - Door doesn’t lock which is not safe - Towels are dirty, yellowish if torn - Wifi not working in the rooms and the network is terrible - no light in the room - Water in Bathroom Showers is not working properly - Receptionist her Name is Naya was extremely rude and not professional at all at told us that she cant resolve these issues and no towels to replace on our day of checkin NEVER BOOK THERE

Good for the price, nice people

Nice hotel right on 5th ave

I remember this hotel as small but cozy. Not big but very comfortable and clean rooms. You’ll find there whatever you want for the rest. Renovation required in some places but in general I have no comments. The hotel is in the very center of Playa a huge number of restaurants a stone’s throw. Also, hotel placed so close to the beach, about 5mins walk. I have recommended Hotel Banana to stay there. P.S. I don’t have a room pictures, but have view from balcony

Hotel location is amazing. Staff were awesome and friendly. The property is super cute. The only thing I missed was a coffee machine in our room.

Friendly stuff, clean an great location for the price

I walked in to the lobby and paid $107 per night ($214 total) for a room for two nights. Once up in my room I had a question but figured I'd check for FAQ on website and saw the rate was $47 per night. I figured it was a simple price adjustment so no problem and I'd deal with it later. When I approched reception about it they said they couldn't do anything and that I should have booked via their website if I wanted that rate. It makes NO sense that on the same day the rate you get in person at reception is nearly triple what you get on their own website. Don't stay here if you value honesty in business.
