Cantwell Cabins

It is a basic place with no frills and a poor location. Much of the building appears unused like the bar.

Breakfast was toast or cereal and coffee. No one was at reception when I arrived.

I loved the location and views! I also loved the lodge part of the facility! Very fun to hang out in, play cards and pool.

It is in the remodeling stage and has a long ways to go so don't expect much from the shared bathroom area. We had room one with its own bathroom that was good. Nothing fancy but adequate. The staff is fantastic and makes up for the in progress modifications.

Breakfast was decent, and the staff was very friendly and responsive. We felt the location was a bit isolated, but we definitely loved it when the train passed by!

The room was small, but it's all good for one night.

The lodge is really an oddly arranged bar with 4 guest rooms that is like the rooms over a saloon in an old west movie but the rooms are adjacent to the bar. Luckily the bar is not open. Phil, the property manager, was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and well appointed, if a little dated. Given what the cost was up the road near the park, it was a good value, slightly odd, but no complaints.

The window didn't lock which it should being a first floor unit. The hot and cold water is plumbed backwards to standard.

I liked the location /town in the middle of no where - there is really nothing. But in a mile you can see Mt McKinley. Had no problems with trains, none passing. The room was clean, new TV etc..

No way the price was appropriate! Building run down, but even small things like mess around the building could be cleaned up… no net against mosquitos in window. BTW…. The bar is not working, so breakfast is banana, cereals… The rating of 7 is that the room was clean! Otherwise ratio cost / value would be like 5/6…

The surroundings. It sits in a valley with snow-capped mountains everywhere. The staff is very approachable and helpful.

The lights in the dining area is a bit dim

Staffs were friends and helpful.

Location is very remote and inconvenient.

The breakfast was top notch every day, the egg quiches were my favorite way to start the day with a delicious cup of hot coffee. And the views of mountains in all directions were lovely
