Over-chlorinated hot tubs

We booked this for a family holiday and paid for a pool-view room, which was important since we were traveling with our toddler. Instead, we were placed in a room a five-minute walk from the main pool, supposedly facing the adult pool. Not ideal, but I tried to be understanding. However, when we arrived, our room didn’t face any pool at all, it faced a pond full of ducks. We couldn’t even step outside our sliding door without getting duck poop all over our shoes. Inside the room, things were even worse. It smelled strongly of must or mold, and there was a thick layer of dust on multiple surfaces. At check-in, we were given a number to text if we needed anything, so I reached out to ask for a different room, even offering to pay more. No one ever responded. After waiting, I finally called the front desk, explained the issues, and again offered to pay for an upgrade. The man on the phone told me he couldn’t help over the phone and that I needed to pack up our belongings and walk back to the front desk (another five-minute trip) if I wanted assistance. I wasn't interested in doing that without knowing that I was going to be moved. Not exactly the service I expect from a Westin. The bathroom had two sinks, each with completely different faucets and totally different water pressure which never got warm. The shower barely trickled water. That night we couldn’t figure out how to open the hide-a-bed sofa, so we called housekeeping for help, no one ever showed up to help us. Our 3-year-old had to sleep in our bed, which was crowded and uncomfortable. The next day we tried to make the best of things. The pool was nice, so no complaints there. It was Monday and we were excited to try the bowling area with our son, but it was closed for a private event. This was frustrating since it’s the only real evening activity for kids. The second night, we finally managed to get the sofa bed open ourselves (still no help from staff). Our son slept on it and woke up with two large bites on his arm and one on his face. It’s been over two weeks, and they are still large and just starting to scar over — I don’t even want to imagine what was in that sofa bed that bit him. Maybe our experience isn’t typical, but it was incredibly disappointing. While the room rate may be reasonable, the restaurants and pool service are still pricey, and we still spent a lot of money onsite for a very disappointing experience. I’ve tried to email the hotel directly to share my concerns, but I can’t find contact information anywhere, which is also frustrating. We normally love Westin properties, but this location is simply not up to standard in any way. I would strongly recommend avoiding it.

Overall stay was just OK - they seem to have staffing issues. Pool bar didn't open one day until almost 11 am (opening time is posted as 10 am) and then there were only 2 staff members to wait on the entire pool area. Food at the bar is mediocre at best. The property is very difficult to navigate - very few signs for directions to the various buildings. You receive a property map at check in, but it is hard to check the map while you're hauling the bags to your room. Worst surprise was the charge for parking - when asked at check in if I had a car, the answer was no. My son (checked in by a different employee) also had the parking charge on his bill - I can only assume that these charges are automatically added to everyone's bill and only removed when you dispute them.

Beautiful hotel and resort. Marlene was very helpful at check in and had some great goodies to help us celebrate our anniversary.

Great location! The whole complex is well maintained. The restaurant was good but I think the staff should be trained better. Joe at the pool bar was fantastic and his service was a ten. We are planning to return next year a couple of different times.

After driving 3 hours with 3-year-old toddler, being greeted by Christopher Fritz was a breath of fresh air. He was the most accommodating to my family. Our room wasn't quite ready but Christopher was able to speed things up for us. All the ensuing interactions were all just so pleasant as well. As a loyal marriott bonvoy member, who travels a lot for work, Marriott usually treats us well. But Chirstopher gave us a even better welcome than we could've asked for. Thank you!

Stayed here for 4 nights on business. Really well appointed resort, very good staff, beautiful grounds and nice rooms. I was upgraded to a golf course view and it was very peaceful. The room was maybe a bit dated, but was ok. The fitness facility was great as well. Nice and spacious, decent equipment. Unfortunately the golf course was closed for reseeding, but it looks like a great course.

I was here for a conference, and the facilities are excellent except that we had one freezing cold meeting room. Buffets were small but decent, rooms are spread out in multiple building, but you can get free trams all over the property just by texting. Text for anything you need and they will bring it. Nice spacious rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, arcade with duckpin bowling, restaurants and bars, gift shop, and close to a casino. Be careful of the pools, though--they are cloudy and need to be cleaner and have more chlorine.
