The Carpenter Hotel

The property had a super cool vibe.

Unfortunately, there was a doggy day care right beside and the dogs were barking non stop. I understand that the hotel cannot do much to prevent but it was loud.

Excellent location off Lamar and Barton Springs, walkable to Zilker Park, Barton Springs, and Lady Bird Lake. The restaurant, bar and coffee shop are great. You don't even have to leave the premises to have a great meal.

My wife and I love the Carpenter Hotel. We met in Austin while she was staying at the hotel, and we've made it a point to go back there every time we're in town. It's such a cute hotel, with a wonderful pool and comfortable beds. During this stay we did have a couple issues that kept us from rating a 5. The housekeeping - never came to clean our room despite not putting up the "no thanks" sign on our door. Even spoke to housekeeping as we left one morning and they still didn't service the room. The only day we managed to get our room cleaned was when we reached out to the front desk directly to explain our frustration. Even then, the room was not cleaned when we returned 4+ hours later, and we had to ask again. The bikes (amenities) - highlighted as one of the offerings for guests, they were "broken" the entire stay which was disappointing. Construction - not the hotels fault, but there is a new building being worked on that happened to be directly across from our room on the 2nd floor (218). The sound isn't overly bad since there is good insulation, but still noticeable. And especially noticeable if we wanted to spend any time on our balcony or at the pool. We still had a wonderful time, and the front desk staff is 10/10 - super helpful and nice. We will be back, but hope housekeeping service improves.

Super cute hotel! Service was amazing all around! The food in the restaurant was also amazing! They are located within walking distance of Barton Creek, Terry Blacks and Congress Ave for shopping!

Great location, close to Lady Bird Lake, downtown, South Congress, Barton Springs and so much more! I’d love a laid back vibe with open outdoor spaces, this is the spot to chill and relax.

Loved this hotel. Very charming, had so much character and austin-vibes. Great location! Loved the balcony and large bathroom. Restaurant was amazing, staff was super helpful and kind. Beds were a tad hard, but that's just personal preference. Love having a ceiling fan. Can't wait to come back for a summer visit and enjoy the pool.

Small room over looking a sheet metal structure that obstructed any other view. The room was bigger than spot in NYC but smaller than other is cities, little bummed to get a queen bed for two adult females.

Located just south of downtown, the hotel is a great spawning point for the rest of Austin. In addition, the property is very classically pretty. The cafe is the star of the dining due to the excellent coffee and redonkulous salted bagel and salmon. In addition, the restaurant makes a gem lettuce salad that was my favorite thing to eat at the hotel. The rooms have plenty of space and a slightly industrial feel due to the concrete floors. The stars are the robes and the bed, both excellent. The space is very quiet thanks to being on a side street. Overall highly recomend.

I love the style and feel of this hotel. The restaurant and coffee shop on site is amazing. The location is close to food trucks, restaurants, barton springs, downtown and the hiking trails along the river. I wish I could live here!
