Monsal Head Hotel

The hotel is very tired and really should not be still open, or the price should be more that of a hostel and not £140/night. The hotel had the appearance of a hostel. The bar had no atmosphere, not welcoming at all. The bedroom, although supposedly newly refurbished was a very poor quality paint job; My partner's breakfast was inedible , the poached eggs were raw. The dining room carpets were filthy. I also believe that Booking.com carried out no due diligence on this property. The website for the hotel is out of date and does not reflect the current state of the hotel.

Nice location with easy access to Monsal Head walking. All the staff we encountered were amazing and a real asset. We were helped to find parking which was appreciated. Everyone was friendly. Cooked to order breakfast was among the best we have had a for a while. Recommend.

It’s an older property which needs a bit of TLC, but it was clean and rooms were large.

The breakfast was disappointing cold and hard bacon and sausage arrived at different times my partner had finished and mine had not arrived

Room had a great view over Monsal Valley. Room was also a good size and good en suite. Dog was made welcome.

We visited at a time when no one else was there, so maybe lacked a bit of atmosphere as a big place,but not a complaint just observation.
