Renaissance Asheville Downtown Hotel

Good location. Overall hotel needs to be refreshed, but still nice with an old school charm. Gym was pretty good. Quiet until early morning when construction trucks were making quite a bit of noise. Pretty time of year looking up towards the mountains!

Just an outstanding experience from beginning to end. From our valet, to the front desk associate to the maintenance man we passed in the hall to the restaurant staff. Top top level friendliness and service! (I’m a Marriott Platinum). Best I’ve experienced. Outstanding property and maintenance, though oddly the toilet was extremely low to the floor. We’ll definitely be back! Keep doing whatever you’re doing there!

We have been staying here since our daughter went to UNCA. So convenient to downtown, helpful staff and comfortable rooms/bed. However, on a recent visit, I would have the following criticisms. First, they should stop advertising a pool-out of action for months. Parking-i completely understand why they charge for parking because their big lot is directly across from Packs Square, which hosts a number of big events that really strained the lot. However, I was irritated that hotel guests paid the same 24 hour rate as the public. A slight reduction, $5 to 10, would be nice. Finally, there do not seem to be dedicated freight elevators. In the morning, when many are checking out, the laundry service carts occupy a lot of the elevators. I waited 15 minutes to get an elevator. Like the hotel but these nuisances made the experience less enjoyable than prior visits. Also, rates are considerably higher but that is understandable as they recover from the hurricane.

My daughter and I had a lovely stay here from check in to check out. The hotel was full but it was quiet and we slept well in our perfectly clean room. Everyone was so nice.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but this one truly deserves it. This is NOT like any Renaissance property I’ve ever stayed at (as a full time traveler for 10+ years). No club lounge (they offer 750 points instead - really? That equates to a sparkling water). Also the features are so outdated. The shower/bath fixture was rusted and falling apart and the ceiling was disgusting. The restaurant staff is incredibly rude, I arrived carrying my 2.5 year old to order some takeout because they don’t have room service and the staff member acted like it was a huge inconvenience yet there was ONE family in the whole restaurant. They provided one water bottle on arrival in the room and no replenishment. Also no cups to fill water. We also used “suite night” rewards, which clearly means nothing anymore, and we got a “mountain view” that ended up being a view of the parking lot on a high floor. Completely worthless.

This was my first time to Ashville truly, and Gabrielle checked me in. She was awesome. I also work for a Renaissance so we were sharing both of experiences with each other. My friend and I then went to the bar for a glass of wine after dropping our stuff off in the room and MaryAnne was so sweet and genuine. We were graciously given complimentary breakfast this morning and it was delightful! Great way to start the day. I missed the gentlemen’s name that took care of us but he was very attentive. Jacob checked us out and was so pleasant and assisted me with making sure a housekeeping tip got to the right person. Overall everyone was amazing and I will be staying again someone.

We thought they had a pool. That was a huge disappointment for the kids. Otherwise, the stay was nice.

Do not go to this hotel. Much nicer ones in the area to begin with. Also they will charge you over $600 for a one night stay. We stayed here Sunday the 5th of October. Paid $260 plus $25 for parking. The 8th comes around and they take 3 more transactions out that wasn’t supposed to come out. One charge for $30 another for $50 and another for $306 so that’s putting us at $600 for one night stay. I called for them to see the only transaction was for $206. Nothing was $206 and then said she couldn’t do anything about other than for me to talk to THEIR accountant that she proceeded couldn’t hear and i would have to email him. Are you serious????
