The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland

I’ve travelled to 50 countries in total. Stayed in most 5 stars hotels and one seven star hotel. But this retreat, is just the best hotel/retreat on planet earth. the staff, food, facilities, our room, spa, and everything was just perfect

Yoga is advertised but it was not possible to book in advance. The assignment room was far too small to cater for the supply and demand and we were disappointed to be turned away even though we were 15 -20 mins early.

Definitely a must do, the spa is a unique experience that provides a much needed private retreat for the stresses.

Staff were helpful and nice. But, they are very rigid and closed-minded. So, be aware, expect a very respectful treatment but don't expect a luxurious one. Here are a few things I noticed that they miss and I would expect from a 5* spa: coordination between treatment, activities, dinner time and room service so guests are not interrupted nor need to request room service. In a late check-in, offer room service such as closing windows and putting the sweets while the process is happening. Or coordinate a relaxing post-checkout moment by sharing a open-area only bracelet giving access to spaces such as nests or fireplace. Those are very simple actions that could be taken by the property for zero costs or interfering with other guests but they fail to do so. Not the level of the service I would expect from a spa of this level.

Moss restaurant is unfortunately closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The SPA restaurant and the Lava restaurant are not up to the standard. Lava is promoted as gourmet dining but that's way off! Most of the restaurant staff is not very attentive and most of them not even friendly. SPA restaurant and Retreat pool fills up with people staying in the Sicilia Hotel who just walk in - as a high rate paying guest of the Retreat you wonder why you have to go through a waiting list to get a table while Sicilia guests dine......

Unbelievable scenery, cosy feel and very professional. Breakfast was great with many options both healthy and not so much ✅. A fantastic place to spend a couple of days relaxing and a good base for adventuring.

There was nothing I could improve about this hotel. Yes, the price is steep, but you definitely get what you pay for!

Had a hard time getting robes that fit me. Maybe they could ask guests before arrival what they need.
