Holiday Inn Express Big Rapids by IHG

Parking lot was very run down, lots of cracks no lines for parking. Walkways were dirty and unkempt. The drop off area was cordoned off because somebody apparently crashed into the roof of the overpass. No flowers or landscaping just what felt like old construction debris. The common areas are very rundown carpet needs to be replaced walls need to be painted. Inside the room, the furniture is old and scratched but the bed was good. Just felt very rundown more like a motel. for the price I was surprised, I thought I’d get a little bit more. Went down for breakfast at about 745am and most of the food was out of stock already. I guess there was a big golfing group that came the same weekend. They did have a good variety, but the sausage was barely cooked. Oatmeal had run out. Just average and if we come back to the area I would look for some where else to stay.

The room was wonderful and hotel was great. Only thing was entrance way was recently damaged due to construction vehicle, not their fault. Staff was exceptional! Very helpful even with restaurant ideas and locations. Everything was very smooth. Will most definitely be staying here again! Wanted to thank Ashton the evening desk staff! They made my night and check in after a ling day smooth and exceedingly easy!!

When people arrive late night does it not feel like its controlled who enters the building.

window shades of cheap quality, and lack of seal allowing light to freely pass through at night, Especially the parking lot lights. Thin walls Room fixtures laughable. Tiny toilet in first room, unsecured shower head in second room, no hangers in either room, hangers brought to room, on request, had hanger hooks too small for rod diameter.3 day stay and no room service. Evidently over 1 year under remodeling. poor plan, construction & paint application, Staff was the only positive. I was embarrassed for the. Won't be back, won't recommend.

The front desk when we checked in his name was Eddie and he had amazing customer service. Super friendly answered all of our questions asked if everything was OK if he could do anything really was a pleasure.

Everything went well. Staff was friendly and the room and breakfast were fine. Pretty much what we have expected from Holiday Express.

The hotel was OK, but it could have been a little cleaner. The air conditioning was out on the main floor, and it was extremely hot and humid. The location was perfect as we were playing in a golf tournament right at Ferris State, but we did have a few issues. First of all the coffee each morning was terrible. Our biggest problem, however, was when we went to pay. There were three of us in the room and we told the gal when we checked in that we wanted to split the bill three ways. She said it was no problem, just let them know when we check out. When we went to check out, the young man behind the desk said he couldn’t do it because it wasn’t set up when we checked in and he actually got very rude about it. He obviously didn’t want to do the extra work required to split the bill. Fortunately, another woman came along, and she was willing to help us out. It should’ve never been an issue. Not sure we will stay here again if the opportunity arises
