Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Charleston Downtown

I’ll be honest, when we arrived I was very surprised & not expecting it to be under massive renovation like it was. The front desk was shrink wrapped and there were holes & wires in the ceiling but it did have painted walls & wallpaper, but the staff was amazing & kind! They pretended to use cardboard to roll out a red carpet for us and it made us all laugh! We came here because it was close to MUSC hospital & very affordable while he was inpatient. The floors & rooms were very nice & renovated & We ended up choosing to come back a few days later & stay again when we had to come back bc it really is a nice room & the people, Chandra & Otis, handled everything really well. The grab & go breakfast was not great so we didn’t try that again, but I’m sure the kitchen will be up & running soon!

Great place to stay if you have to do business around downtown. A lot of construction was going on but it wasn’t in the way of guest. Two things that could be reviewed, (1) the curtains was over the air conditioning so the cool air went up the curtains. (2) The toilet paper roll was way too far back from the toilet. It was over all a nice stay. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were okay.

Great location, VA hospital and MUSC right across the street, plus walking distance to food. Room was very clean & front desk extremely nice and helpful.

My stay was very comfy besides the construction 🚧 workers. I will definitely visit again though. Great customer service. Especially from Ms. Nicole 🫶🏾❤️.

Location of property. Very close to the busy area but not right in the middle of it. Shower was nice.

The building was undergoing renovations. There was no communication about this prior to arrival. Floors were torn up, walls were stripped, and elevators were not even framed out. Hallway to room (on a floor that was supposed to be finished) was dirty. You could see the dirt and other construction materials on the floor. Room was equally as dirty. I left my shoes on because it needed vacuuming so badly. Breakfast was grab and go because of renovations; however, the mini fridge that was holding the yogurt had water standing in it. I'm sure it will be beautiful once it is finished; however, the building should be closed during renovations. Unless, accomodations are made for guests. Meaning, discounted pricing, communication on what the guests are going to be walking into, cleanliness prioritized on guest floors, etc.
