Hilton Garden Inn San Antonio Airport

This has to be the worst Hilton I have ever stayed in. The decor in the lobby and rooms is like 1970s, the carpets are worn through in several places, I did not have any towels in my room, and all six evaluators were out of service. The place may charge by the hour. Do not stay here.

Definitely not what we’ve come to expect and know from the Hilton brand. With over 25+ years of booking with Hilton exclusively, this was the worst stay to date. There were two things that I’d give credit to during this stay- the front desk staff and the hot water & water pressure. That is absolutely it. Upon arrival, Roman was a tremendous help with finding an acceptable room. The first room immediately set off an asthma attack. The room(s) smell dank, of mold and dirty pets. Six room choices later, an acceptable room was found. Lesson learned to never book a non refundable stay with an unfamiliar Hilton site. Our stay was 7 nights. During this stay, house keeping came one time and this had to be requested. On the third day of our stay we requested clean linens and towels, changing the sheets and towels ourselves because house keeping did not. Housekeeping’s one visit resulted in new towels, the bed was made, garbage removed, and a face soap replaced on the bath sink. We did leave the tag off of the door daily so housekeeping would service the room and they never did. The carpets had small pet food in various spots, food and dirt behind the chair; overall just an unclean floor. The table tops in room were clean and dust free. The bathroom floor had hair in numerous places under the sink area from day 1. Again- just dirty floors in this room. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. There was a facial soap bar available and we used this but seriously, there was no hand soap available in the damn bathroom. The hot water and water pressure was the only enjoyable part of this stay. The NON FUNCTIONAL whirlpool tub was a bit of a challenge to get in and out of, but again the hot water and pressure was worth the effort. The view from the window with the broken blind was horrendous- not sure if it’s a TX City Works issue or if Hilton could remedy this. Nonetheless it is there and visible from the window. In the lobby, no napkins were available our entire stay by the coffee and hot water. We didn’t eat breakfast in the hotel during our stay. I didn’t trust the cleanliness of anything in this hotel. The cleanest thing in this hotel was the tile in the lobby, this was mopped every morning and evening. The lobby doesn’t smell of mold like the rooms do. During our stay a bad line of thunderstorms moved through and there was a leak by the window. We did alert the front desk of the issue. They offered to move us to a new room but it wasn’t necessary, we were checking out the following day. There was only one elevator in operation during 4 nights of our stay; unfortunately it stopped working as well. The day we checked out, neither elevator was operational. The fitness center is an absolute NO. It’s smaller than the rooms and only 1 of the machines were working. The Garden Grille & Bar isn’t operational any longer. Only breakfast is served daily until 0930. This HGI is under new management, possibly we arrived before they have implemented improvements. But the cleanliness of the hotel overall, dependability of housekeeping to clean your room every other day as stated, and having to try 6 rooms to find one that didn’t make me sick- there’s mold lurking in this place. Hopefully the new management can acquire the necessary staffing and renovations to make this a Hilton establishment you can trust. We certainly didn’t experience this and will definitely avoid this establishment until the reviews show changes.

Elevator was not working

Unfortunately, there was not a single thing to like about this property.

The ac seemed broken in the lobby. The odor in the rooms was horrible. The worst part was the dirtiness of the rooms. When we arrived we got assigned a room that when we walked in we tried to turn on the light and it was broken so we had to use the bathroom light. The jet tub was filthy. There was freshly yellow puddle stains, a black ring around the tub and hair in the tub. The tube was also clogged with long hair and the stopper was broken. There was also a lot of gnats. We went to open the blinds since the lights were broken and the whole pole fell as it was broken. All this within a few minutes, i went to the guest service desk and requested a new room. We got assigned a new room that we went to. When we walked in it also had a horribly strong odor. I checked the tub and again it was as very dirty. There was hair all in the tub and it looked grimy. There was also a ton of gnats in there. The sofa chair had stains all all on the seat that looked liked leak stains of some sort. When we pulled down the sheets, there was blood under the sheets. It was so disgusting. I went back to guest service and let them know i would not be staying there and would like a refund. I had to argue this but they only agreed when i mentioned the blood. I was in and out of that building without about 15 minutes. I assumed it would be a decent place as it hate the Hilton brand. NEVER AGAIN.

Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Perfect location and great hospitality. Will visit again!

The wait time for checking in was about 45 min and the lady at the front desk was unprofessional and looked like she didn’t want to be there or help. Maybe I don’t blame her as much because they should have had 2 people ac the desk checking people in but or room was not ready and we needed up getting what I think was an accessible room. The room was climate controlled at 68 degrees and it was sticky and gross the entire time , the shampoo and body wash in the shower was completely empty and all around this was not a nice clean hotel.

Needs maintenance care. You could see paint chips in the wall when you walked into the lobby it was hot like the AC was out. Had an elevator down.
