Slightly out dated , the toilet had a dodgy flusher

Significantly understaffed. Housekeeping did not occur, even after we specifically requested it from the concierge. The water splattered harshly out of the bathroom sink faucet either scalding hot or ice cold. Plumbing maintenance desperately needed. Walls between rooms are paper-thin. Could easily hear the person in the next room talking at seemingly normal levels.

The view from our room was stunning. Great position as the bus stop was directly in front of the hotel.

Was a great location easy walk to town, I read a heap of reviews after I booked and people were really bagging this hotel and I thought I had made mistake booking it. The staff were great, the room was really nice and clean. The location was amazing, only downside was the walls are thin so you could hear louder conversations between rooms for us this was only 1 night and honestly for about 30 minutes so was not really an issue.

We really enjoyed our stay, reason for lower property rating is because of the shower too hot and having to climb over bath. Also massive stains on carpet and in fridge. Someone would have been charged to get this cleaned or replaced and it has not been done. We did have a lovely stay, joining rooms was also great.

If you want to avoid a strong and unpleasant oil smell wafting down the corridor and loud music blaring into your room from both sides, i.e., the hall and the pool, do not stay on this level. I repeat, do not stay on level 6! I had to make three phone calls to the reception to get them to turn down the music, which was a nightmare since I had a 5 a.m. start for a business meeting. Never again!

Room was not ready 30 mins prior check in time (this is also happened to me 8 years ago) we were offered another room which was nice however this room had a bed with broken slats, a shower that leaked and kept changing temperature scolding us, and a basin sink that would fill while using and would take mins to drain. When mentioned to reception they said they would let maintenance know. Nothing was done about it or an alternative offered for the duration of our stay. Housekeeping was not completed until after 4pm each day, I had to request to be prioritised as we did not want to come home to am unmade room/clean towels/toiletries. This request was met but we were told that this is standard practice as check ins take priority. This is concerning as our room was not ready 30 mins prior to check in. The solution you would think would be to employ enough staff to be a me to manage the large volume of rooms and housekeeping. This was all the case 8 years ago. It seems to be the way they run their business. I will not be returning to this hotel. Staff were helpful and kind, but the business model is questionable.

Stayed just the one night, nice comfortable room and bed, clean tidy, all the usual things from at Rydges. Good view from the room and the bar and restaurant on the upper level. A very short distance to the centre of town for more restaurants, bars etc. Check in was efficient and friendly, as was check out. The rooms are a bit dated and could do with a refurbishment, but still a nice clean comfortable stay. Bazaar and Reds bar very good, and food was great. This place is stuck in a 70's Time-warp with its' furnishings, decor & layout. The elevator was broken (not clever with a 4 floor climb to one's room!!!). The room was cramped and very, very outdated. A tiny, single clothes cubicle was all to be had for 2 peoples' clothing. The cheap, tiny plastic kettle malfunctioned. The fridge light inoperative. The shower door leaked water all over the bathroom floor. And the staff shrugged it all off with: "Oh yes - so sorree....". A No-No place for one's 1st Choice. Look elsewhere before succumbing to this relic.
