HAKONE Setsugetsuka

The area is beautiful. The onsen was great. The meals were wonderful. The accommodation was good.

I felt that the public areas, corridors, lifts, some carpets were tired and unloved. Some redecorating is required. The seating in the restaurant was torn. I found this disappointing.

Only 3 private onsens , you can’t go with tattoo in to main one which is shame … guy at reception could say something….but I understand and respect tradition and habits …

There is a breakfast and dinner served in traditional way which is nice but they could tell you , teach you or explain bit more what to do …

The traditional Japanese style was a great experience for one night, but I had to get back to the traditional western style hotels

We had to switch rooms because there was mold in the first one, but the staff handled it well. The facilities can use some upgrading.

Location is great

It looks a bit run down. Food is very mediocre. Bad is too hard

The staff at the front desk spoke good English. They've were friendly and did a good job explaining the facilities at check in. Breakfast was good.

The bathroom was awful. The rub/shower room was full of black mold, the paint was peeling off the ceiling and there was exposed insulation on the floor. When I pulled down the curtains a spider fell down. We complained to the front desk and they sent someone with spider spray but by then it had vanished. I had been to another ryokan in hakone and had high expectations for the food but the dinner was very disappointing. Food was mediocre and the overworked waitress didn't explain what we were eating or how to make it.

This is a very unique experience. The onsen was clean and gorgeous. The room was traditional tatame, spacious and comfortable. They lend japanese pyjamas, jackets and yukatas to all guests so the vibe was beautiful. The food was another experience in itself, traditional, lots and lots of food. They also provide lots of snacks throughout the day and free ice cream lollies.

They don't sell the yukatas, so you cannot take a beautiful souvenir home and it would be impossible to find the same. I really wanted to but it but they didn't allow. They can buy them in bulk, so why not sell?

Le service et les onsens privatifs. La chambre incroyable. Le balcon avec le bain extérieur et la vue était magnifiques ! Je reviendrai

The hotel was very nice, especially the garden and onsen. Also the staff was extremely nice. Location-wise, it was perfect for getting there and going back to Odawara St. (2 min walk to train stations)

The rooms were a little outdated and some areas were pretty dusty. You are not allowed in the public bath if you have any tattoos (that seems to be common in Japan though, we just didn’t know beforehand). There is only one smoking area right behind the reception, we were located in the other house which made the way pretty long.
