Block Island Beach House

We were underwhelmed from the start. We checked in to 3 agents and since we didn’t pre check in they made us do it on our phone instead of checking us in. They seemed very annoyed we hadn’t done pre check in. They also did not explain any of the amenities (that we were being charged $30 per day for)Then we went to our room that we had spent a great deal on. It was in the basement of one of the off site properties, the gothic house. Room was musty smelling and the floors were so uneven - almost seemed like there were tree roots underneath. The AC unit made noises all night that kept us awake. The price is not worth the stay at this hotel. Book something else and just go to the restaurant for lunch and drinks.

Loved the location and staff . Loved the set up of beach lounge chairs and umbrellas.

Extremely small rooms

Third visit because the location is key, in town with on-site restaurant and beach access. It’s an old building- refurbished with charm, but note that it kept its slanted floors and thin walls. This visit, we noticed repairs were needed throughout- our room in particular had several holes in walls from past shelving. Service was challenging this time- front desk was efficient and friendly, but housekeeping skipped our room and several of us waited fifteen minutes for lobby coffee while the server chatted on the phone nearby. For these prices, one might expect more attention to detail and service, but hopefully these things will be addressed.

Location.

I left my wallet in the safe by accident after I checked out and they are telling me they cannot find it, when I know for sure I left it in there. Situation is being very poorly handled and it seems someone is getting away with keeping my wallet!

The room was a very simple decor which was nice but there was a huge chandelier overhead. The bed was comfortable but the AC made a sporadic groaning noise and when we wanted to go with sea breeze we couldn’t as there were no screens in the windows. Shower curtain fell down but was quickly fixed. Right in the heart of Old Town with a parking lot to boot which was convenient. There was a great porch right outside our room (405) which was on the 2nd floor of the Gables. Overall the hotel tried to appeal to a younger crowd (we in our 60s) and I am not sure I need a vibe check so often.

The hotel vibe is great, beautiful views, great coffee and the food is good. Only things I didn’t like were that the windows in our room didn’t open. I like the sound of the surf to fall asleep to. Second was the septic system, I don’t know if it was theirs or another property but in the afternoon down by the water where they have lounge chairs, umbrellas and food and drink service, the smell was unbearable. It was not low tide. In the mornings, no smell. Afternoon offensive. So relaxing on the beach in the afternoon was out. They had a pool down the block. But we were not interested in that. Maybe that is just late August at BIBH.

Everything was great. Need more beach chairs for guests. To many guests get them early then leave beach leaving nothing for the rest of us who sleep in a bit. Should have a sit down breakfast. Paper thin walls at gothic house. Exceptionally clean though.

We loved our stay the Beach House! Room was lovely, service was great, location superb, and amenities worth paying a little extra for. Great vibe all around!

My only problem was the bed we had . Very low to the floor . While the bed was very comfortable it was difficult for me to get out of at my age and health . Other than that I was very happy with my stay .
