Wouldn't recommend this property for a single women for a business stay - didn't feel secure and only a night porter available by contacting someone via a telephone number. Very basic room, internet slow - Just all round not a great experience

Newish hotel part of a larger golf and leisure complex. Excellent parking right outside, and simple online check-in. Room surprisingly large, with TV, desk and plenty of storage. Bathroom with over bath shower and toiletries provided. A fault with the heated towel rail was fixed in 10 minutes! Very quiet away from the main road and a good full English breakfast the next morning. Perhaps the only downside is that the complex is fairly isolated and the taxis we used were very expensive. Uber and Bolt are not available here yet.

"Golf course /big potential/GREENS AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE !1"

2.0

Having recently got back. Into golf I was keen to play some local courses,I played this course 10 years ago and from memory it was a good course with some tough holes, The `Tee off areas were absolutely fine ,the fairways had been cut , the rough was as expected and the layout of the course is as I remembered ,except for one very important detail,THE GREENS !1 I must say they are the worst greens I have ever seen ,to be honest until the Wiltshire `Hotel Golf club address this issue I don’t believe they should be able tomadvertise or charge people to use the golf course ,it completely ruined the whole day of golf. We paid £20, I wouldn’t ever play there again unless they address the issue of the greens, and I would strongly advise all of you to not waste your money playing golf at this venue unless the Golf course can guarantee your money back if you are not happy with the standard of the greens, It’s a real shame as the layout and the potential of a real good course is there ,IF THEY SORT OUT THE GREENS!11 🙏

Part of this review seems unfair considering that my previous night's stay was at the Celtic Manor Resort so I'll try and be as objective as possible. There's no real indication from the outset that this wasn't going to be a wonderful accommodation experience with the setting, long drive from the main road and the fact it is a hotel and golf resort. That is where the positivity ended. On entering the lobby area, the flooring was an awful concrete surface. Once checked in by staff (all of which were very helpful and courteous), the walk to my first floor room was across carpeting that had seen much better days and was discoloured throughout and needs updating as does most of the décor. The room was adequate with the most basic of amenities and you can tell was kitted on a threadbare budget. The bed was at least comfy and allowed for a decent night's rest. I foolishly decided not to go out to eat but instead dine in at the restaurant. The only item of note was the Diet Coke I'm afraid. The wings for the appetizer were only just cooked. The burger for the main was made with low quality beef and the chips straight out of the frozen bag. The cheesecake for dessert was also straight out of the freezer without little time to defrost seemingly. This culinary car crash was amplified more so when it came to breakfast. The sausages were anaemic and undercooked and subsequently left well alone. Owners looking to make a fast buck but eroding any reputation it once had.

"A golf resort without any golf staff"

4.0

Unfortunately the service at this hotel and quality of the golf was not as expected, and not worth the price we paid - now we didn't pay a lot; we weren't expected St. Andrews but we were expecting a maintained golf course. The hotel itself was generally clean and tidy and the food in the evening was ok. There was definitely a lack of trained staff and staff in general and not one member of staff knew anything about the golfing side of the resort. On arrival we were shocked to find the (very small) pro-shop closed so we were unable to buy any golf balls and had to buy expensive water & soft drinks from the bar. This remained closed for the entire weekend. The golf course itself was ok but the greens were quite simply the worst greens we have all ever played on. We were told that the mower was broken which is why the grass was so long but we also were told that there in no greenkeeper at the hotel at all, but the general staff try their hardest to keep the course as best as possible. Also none of the bunkers were raked or looked maintained. This made for a terrible golfing experience which was the main reason for our stay. Some members of our group almost went home the next morning without playing the second round of golf. In the evening as mentioned, the food was ok. The bar & restaurant looked inviting but to find out there was a choice of either 1x lager or 1x cider that was a complete disappointment. Also, imagine the shock when we were told we weren't allowed a glass of red wine without buying the bottle! We did manage to get a glass of red wine eventually but that is simply unacceptable. After a disappointing start to the evening we chose to get a taxi into the local town. The breakfast in the morning was below average also, but we did all manage to eat something before the second round of golf. In summary, if the hotel wants to be a golf resort then a lot of changes need to be made. At the very least have a member of staff on hand to run the golf side of things, make sure the course is up to standard and manage the proshop & golf bookings. More staff training is required for the hotel side of things to keep customers happy. It felt like there were alot of corners being cut in order to save money everywhere you looked. We were offered two complimentary four balls but I've had to request these from the manager who, suprise surprise, wasn't there this weekend. I have my fingers crossed for a response but I doubt I'll get one.

"Very disappointing"

4.0

Anyone that gives this hotel more than 2 out of 5, is clearly writing a fake review. The hotel is extremely dated and basic. Beds uncomfortable, curtains flimsy, no iron in the room, no air conditioning, microwave food (at a-la-carte prices) served in the restaurant, bar closed very early, the list goes on. I think this could be a good hotel with a bit of effort. There is an absence of guests for a reason. Real shame :-(
