The Wiltshire Hotel, Golf and Leisure Resort

So I returned here on Wednesday 16th April, again to play the lakes course and compared to this time last year the course has taken a big step forward and playing and looking in great condition. The bunkers were looking very tidy as you can see in the photo lovely clean edge. The greens were looking like they needed an good feed. And there were long grooved marks. But I spoke with one of the members here, they told me the greens have been scarified ready for renovation in a few weeks so although they don't look pretty I understand this need to be done. He also said There's an Instagram page that thewiltshiregreenkeepingteam do that promotes great information on what they are doing on the courses 👍 Great course, cracking layout I will definitely be returning again in june and I'm look forward in seeing how the greens will improve 👍

We booked to play on the 9 hole gold course, as the 18 hole was fully booked. The fairways on the 9 hole were decent, but every other aspect of the course was atrocious. Greens with huge scars in them and not a lot of grass. These clearly hadn’t been maintained in months. No sand in the bunkers, just stones. Tee box’s were in a poor state too. At £25 for 9 holes per person this is an absolute joke. Spoke with the staff after walking off the course to ask for a refund and they refused. We checked out the greens in the 18 hole course and they were in an equally poor state. And absolute shambles of a course. Avoid

Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself doesn’t quite live up to the glossy brochure. Rooms are old, dated, carpets are terrible, showers are moldy. In a two week stay sheets never got changed. Simple thing but returning to room at night the sensor lights in hallways don’t turn on until you are halfway up the hallway. Gym is good, sauna is great, except they don’t have water to pour over the rocks…so sauna doesn’t work as it should. There’s a note in the sauna saying no water allowed as it damages the heater…it’s a good quality spa heater designed to have water over it to work properly so not sure they know how to work it. There was usually only one staff member on to cover the whole hotel…work reception desk, clean rooms, serve drinks at the bar. Advertises a day spa and golf pro onsite. They don’t have either. Golf course, I did play a round with hire clubs…The set of clubs had no putter and a persimmon driver- probably quite a valuable museum piece. The fairways were longer than rough and greens were fairway length. Layout was actually good and course is in good nick, just needs to be kept at appropriate lengths to play golf on. Would not play there again.

We booked here for a one night stay and 2 rounds of golf. Alarm bells rang when we arrived on Saturday morning and the car park was very quiet. Course was in generally poor condition and greens were shocking; extremely slow and a complete lottery as to where your putt would go. Accommodation ok but slightly dated. Bar/Restaurant completely soulless and only a handful of people staying. Food distinctly average. If looking for a place with a good atmosphere and a decent course, avoid this place until there are dramatic improvements. Went into Wootton Bassett on Saturday night which was good otherwise we would have been on our own in the bar. Disappointed from Somerset x4

The hotel is in an urgent need of update. The room we stayed was very tired.

Do not use this sorry excuse for a golf course and hotel. If you do not submit your car registration within 10 minutes (this is displayed nowhere in the car park or reception) they will send debt collectors after you and refuse to cancel the fine. I paid full price for a round of golf and submitted my registration 5 minutes too late. The golf course annd hotel itself is also in such bad condition. Avoid at all costs.

Booked a room here a couple of months back for a one night stay in late February. Due to a family issue need to cancel my room but despite three emails sent to reception email address shown on the website over the past week…..can’t call as abroad travelling at present and have limited access to network…..all emails have gone unanswered. Not what I would expect from a hotel claiming to be of this standard. Are they just simply ignoring me in order to charge me for a no show!!

Absolute shambles of a place. Reception looks like an old nursing home. The leisure facilities are all closed for renovation (Could have put that on their website as this was the reason I booked, I like a sauna while I'm away). The room was large and clean, bathroom dated. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in.

Expensive entry for swimming pool. Cold water. Non of the facilities like sauna working. Shabby shower facilities and changing room. Place has gone downhill for sure in the past few years. Obvious change in staff has happened. Big empty unstaffed bar.

Stayed here as looked like a very nice hotel with swimming pool and facilities. On arrival disappointed it didnt look quite like the pictures but seemed fine. Room ok other than it was freezing so we switched on the heating and went to use the pool. The entrance to the pool is being retiled but fine. When we went to the pool the jacquzzi and steam room were non existent behind a barrier and it all looked like a building site We had a swim and then left as nothing else was available. Wish we had known this before booking as would have booked a hotel with the facilities we wanted. But worse was to come. We ordered dinner I ordered the sweet potato curry and my husband ordered the butter chicken curry. The meals were £18 each approx and mine arrived and I ate one mouthful and refused to eat any more. It was atrocious. I complained and was told the manager would come to speak to me but that never happened. I ordered another drink and a packet of crisps as by now I was starving. Another meal eventually arrived but not any better than the first so I refused to pay for either meal and can only say I was bombarded by negativity by male Indian staff that said I had to pay or they would have to. I refused to pay for a meal I did not eat and walked away. Absolutely disgusting treatment from staff. sadly I have paid for two nights but definitely won't be spending any other money into this hotel. Don't book unless you are getting a really good deal, but for over £100 a night this hotel is not even close to achieving that.
