Hampton Inn Duluth-Canal Park

Great location

Staff is not overly friendly. Property is under construction. No one mentioned this prior to our arrival. Ice machines are out of order. Snack machines are empty. No pop machines.

Perfect location, and the room was decent sized and clean. Lovely staff.

The breakfast was lacking in healthy choices, just a few bananas - would appreciate a larger selerction of healthy good. It was super expensive for one room so the breakfast made it more dissapointing.

We stopped here again heading up to the great white North for Thanksgiving. A little spooky, so close to the 50th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. We were able to get up close and personal with a couple ships, some people at the hotel said they said they didn't see any. We were there for the opening of the Bentlyville Christmas Light display and a little shopping. This hotel always seem busy and during this stay they had an announced lobby remodel going on which involved the eating area which, quite frankly, was really nice when we were there in the past. On this visit, they were using a conference room to substitute for the breakfast area. We never really thought the main part of the lobby needed a remodel, it's beautiful. This hotel is very centrally located, great place to catch the ships as they approach from the north. This hotel is moderately priced and accepts dogs. The pool was full of kids and families, way too full for an older couple like us. You will super enjoy walking the lake boardwalk on one side of the hotel and the restaurants and shopping that surround it on the other side. Room was great, the windows open, which is aways a plus for us Minnesota people who are always hot. Having a lake view is a must have, especially if there is rough weather. The hotel is well maintained and clean. They always have a great breakfast, meaning that it's standard Hampton Inn fare, but well presented and rapidly replenished. The only negative was the front desk which seem ambivalent to the guests. We like this place, but would be open to a more boutique property if the view was almost as good, but price/value of this property is very hard to beat.

The breakfast was great. Room was spacious and comfortable.
